Well - I guess its finally that time... we are gearing up for Bethany's IEP

for Kindergarten. Any recommendations as for things to look for... things to

make sure to include etc... ? I'm really hoping for her to be in the regular

Kindergarten with some modifications.... we are waiting on some testing to see

that possibility..... but I'm not sure the kinds of things to ask for for

modifications... I've talked to the local Parent Resource Center - and they

said they will review the proposed IEP with us when we get it... and I've been

reading online and from books they've given me... but I'd love to hear from

parents who have been there done that as well.

As for where Bethany is as far as school - well she attends a church preschool 3

days a week, and the county preschool 2 days a week. She signs and speaks -

although much of the time people don't understand what she's saying. She is

progressing here LOTS though. She is very social and very independant.

Although sometimes in loud situations she won't speak. She knows all her

letters upper and lower, she can count to eleven (LOL). She knows some of the

letter sounds but not all. She can write the straight letters - like A, K, M,

W, T, L, and simple curved ones like O and J. She has a few sight words as

well. She is fully independant with the bathroom. She may need some help in

the lunchroom opening things - but not sure she'd ask for help - so someone

would have to notice. Her big brother will be in 5th grade at the same school

and has volunteered to be her " bus buddy " ( and he is SUPER responsible

especially where his sister is concerned) so that part is no worry for me.

Anyways - wanted to give that overview of her incase that would help with

recommendations...

thanks in advance,

Michele inVA and Bethany
