Guest guest
Hey Jill and , I wanted to put my son in the tot collar- bought it when he was 5 months old- it was a little big and my pt was clueless. So, we decided to wait until after the DOC band therapy was over. When we tried fitting it with my pt, it was very complicated because it was her first time and KKR's book explains the different muscles it supposed to line up with. Then we switched therapists due to insurance, and he was 10 months old. She had experience with it and he wore it for no longer than a week. The problem was he started grabbing at it and we gave up. I did see a definite improvement with him not tilting while in it. I wish it would have been on at an earlier age when he was less active. I would talk to the tort board, specifically Dee, at torticolliskids about her experience- her son wore it successfully as did other children on the board, but from what I can remember they were all under 1 year. Since the tot is not a good option for us anymore, we do try to strengthen his right neck muscle by tilting him towards his left, his tort side, which makes right himself to midline by using that right neck muscle. Good luck! ' Mom
