Guest guest
, NO - you have not made a mistake!!!! While the DOCband is an awesome product there are soooo many other products out there that are fantastic as well. We used a locally made helmet and were very happy with the outstanding expertise our ortho had and the results we recieved. You did just fine with your choice! Guest guest
I second that Marci. I could not imagine Grace getting any more fantastic results then she has had with her locally made helmet. I would never change what we have done or the product we have used. I think it is all about the orthotist. There are people with locally made bands who have probably had trouble as well as people with DOCband STARbands that have not had results they have wanted. So it is about the person making them/fitting them/adjusting them etc is what I personally believe not the product itself or the price that makes it sucessful. Guest guest
Hi, , We've already gotten a local helmet, mainly because that's where our doctors send people and because it really does seem to be the only place to get a cranial ortho in NYC. Paramus, NJ isn't too far away as the crow flies, but we don't own a car, and I don't drive often (most NYC folks don't!). To be honest, even if we rented a car for each visit, I'd be very nervous driving with my son crying in the backseat since I haven't driven regularly in some time. Do people think we have made a mistake going with a local helmet instead of a CT DOC band? > > > > > > Ana - > > > > > > Any news on your appeal with UHC? > > > > > > > > > > > > Dane's mom (DOC Band 2/14)
Guest guest
OMG no! My cousins son has a local helmet and I hear they are getting good progress. I just meant if CT was close, it might be worth the trip because you might get more help with the insurance. Sorry I didn't explain that. I forgot people in NYC don't have cars! That would be an ordeal! > > > > > > Hi ! > > > > > > > > > > > > We actually haven't had to appeal yet because we haven't > > > > officially > > > > > > been denied. We are still waiting to hear. Guest guest
, I don't think anyone here thinks that you made a misake by choosing a locally made helmet over a DOCband. The important thing is that you are getting help for your son's head, thats all that really matters. Its only normal for us as parents to second guess our every move, but rest assured, you are doing a great job, don't give it another thought! Guest guest
: No, I'm sure you haven't made a mistake by going with a locally made helmet, especially given your driving situation. Just make sure your orthotist has good experience in treating plagio babies with the helmet. How old is your son? We have a lot of members who currently have their child in a local helmet & are happy with their results. As well as many locally made helmet " graduate " . You'll be seeing results soon! Please keep us updated on his progress & good luck.
