Guest guest
's classes ended up their California Gold Rush unit today with two performances of " Gold Dust or Bust " (AKA The Gold Rush play). Although she was encouraged by both her 1:1 and teacher to try out for a speaking part, she told them " no thank you, I might be embarassed. " There were actually very few speaking roles, and the majority of the kids were part of the chorus, singing about 10 songs about different parts of the Gold Rush. In the past, has not been very thrilled to participate in the grade level performances, but has been improving every year. Well, today we saw maturity and confidence (and quite a bit of smiling and waving, LOL.) stood the entire time in her spot, front row, right on the end (in case she needed to escape, LOL) and sang every song! She did some of the had movements too, but seemed to be concentrating on the music more. She looked so cute... of course, it never got home to me that they needed to wear a costume, luckily, when picked her up from her classmates house (after our 4.5 hour IEP yesterday.... that's another story!), and 's friend said " Hey Lizzie, don't forget to wear your costume tomorrow! " So, after collecting all the kids at 7 pm (after the marathon IEP), running through fast food, tells me " hey, when I picked up , her friend said something about a costume.... " Now it's 8 pm, I'm calling around (becauase there is nothing in the past 2 weeks of daily communication log OR in her planner OR homework folder) asking " what is the costume supposed to be??? " The answer, jeans and a flannel shirt. Well, here in Southern California, flannel shirts are not exactly daily wear, and hates jeans (and doesn't own any.... she's a skirt girl), so in desparation I grabbed a peasant skirt from big sis, a too small but denim vest from little sis, and her beloved hand-me-down pink Ugg-type boots, topped with braids and a pink bandana... she was soooooo adorable! I was so proud of I didn't even ruin it by telling the teacher " hey, this could have totally gone the other way because I didn't know about the costume.... did you even THINK about writing it down for her????????? " I'll save that for the continuation of the IEP meeting, LOL. I just uploaded a photo... should be in soon I guess. It's under Kerrigan. , mom to (12), (10 DS) and Sammy (8)
