Hi, Velma!

I just wanted to say thanks for the response you sent yesterday. It

is nice to know there are others out there on the same timeline with

similar questions cropping up.

How did your son's follow-up appointment go today? Did they adjust

the helmet at all?

Hi ,

Actually, it's still Wednesday here...Now I really wonder where you are! His appointment is tomorrow afternoon, so we'll see how it goes. He doesn't cry anymore when I put the helmet on. I call it his hat when I talk to him. He still tries to push it off once in a while, but otherwise he's just fine with it. He has one spot on the side of his head that is still red. It fades when I take it off, but each time it's just a little bit redder. I think I'm going to have them shave that area.

I dunno, but I think there's already some improvement. It's been almost a week. The back of his head was starting to round out a bit on the bottom before we got the band, but the top was almost getting dented because the very centre was not rounding out. I think that dent isn't quite as prominent. Maybe I'm just looking for things. I'm hoping he just has to wear the one band, and only for 3-4 months, but I really don't know what's going to happen.

I'll let you know how the appointment goes tomorrow. :)

Velma,

Oops. Sorry! It is still Wednesday in NYC too! I just got ahead of

myself.

Do let me know how the appt. goes! I don't really see any changes in

Philip yet. He doesn't seem to mind his hat at all, though (I always

call it his hat to him, too!). He gets excited when he looks at it

when it is off.

Hi ,

So the appointment seemed to go okay. He's afraid of the Judy. Cried whenever she came close to him. I think it's because of the casting that he doesn't want anyone there to come near him. I found out he has Brachycephaly, and it's moderate to serious. I also found out that children with bracycephaly generaly only have one band (not two like some Plagio children), and that they generally keep in on for 4-5 months. He's only had it on for a week, so there's not much going on. I think there's progress. There is a dent in the back about 1/3 of the way down, and I think it's not as noticeable. We'll see. We are set to go back in next Thursday afternoon again. doesn't cry anymoe when I put it on, so that's good. Although he likes it when I take it off.

He did something knew today though. He pulled himself up on the coffee table and on the baby gate into a standing position. First time he ever did that! We just spent the morning with my friends and her kids (3 years and 10 mos.), and I think he must have got the idea from them. Colby (the 10 month old) has been pulling himself up for quite some time now, and I'm sure was watching.
