Guest guest
God I know how you feel. I get sick to my stomach everytime I hear that saying. I just wrote a long email to my Brother in laws' girlfriends daughter the otherday for this same reason. This girl is very intelligent a jr in collage and to top it off an English major!! I know she loves my son and doesn't mean any harm by it but the fact that it is so derogatory makes me sick. I hope she learns for my letter . In a message dated 4/26/2008 8:50:26 A.M. Hi, That is what I was thinking. I dont think most people use that word to intentionally hurt someone. It hurts us a lot, but its just a bad word that people use without much thought. I have heard so many people use it and people close to me who use it, usually self correct and use another derogatory word instead. I believe most people do not mean to be harmful, but words do hurt and there is only so much we can do to educate the world. One day amanda was at her youth group with all the 'typical' kids. One of the girls called one of the other girls from youth group to find out if she was coming that evening. She said, " Only me and __________ are here. " Never mentioning that was there too. Like she is invisible. And that is a kid from our church where we have had all kinds of sensitivity to inclusion and they have grown up with amanda. I think Di is right- some people just dont get it. And there is only so much we can do. **************Need a new ride? Check out the largest site for U.S. used car listings at AOL Autos. Guest guest
I know how you all feel too. It happens now and then, especially when you have six (counting my nieces) and also have taken care of adults with disabilities. Not too long ago at Boy Scouts, one of the other Scout leaders turned red in the face when he was talking about something being flame retardant. He looked at me and and like he was going to drop over. It was a harmless mistake and he quickly changed his wording to, " something that won't burn or is hard to catch fire. " But some people use the " R " word like it is going out of style and I don't know if they need to be more sensitive or I need to be less! little1sdaycare@... wrote: God I know how you feel. Guest guest
I agree, I know people use it as a slang but when the person knows it is offensive and continues to use it in my presence then I choose to remove myself from the situation. Someone emailed saying my bible verse was contradictory to how I reacted. Let me say, I have forgiven her I just choose not to put myself in a situation as to be offended and to not have Nic hearing it. Di Judge not, and ye shall not be judged. Condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned. Forgive, and ye shall be forgiven. Luke 6:37 Re: nasty little boys AND ADULTS > > In a message dated 4/26/2008 9:15:40 A.M.
