-Dane had the same prob last week. ON teh dr. advice we gave him prune juice. We were also to give him half of a glycerin suppository, but I had trouble finding them. When he is screaming, lay him on his back and pump his legs (bring knees to chest).Hope everything comes out okay! > someone please help..tucker (15 1/2 months) has a very hard time going poopy...it is very hard and they are like small pebbles..the dr...(same as doc band) says that it should correct itself and not to worry about it..he says tucker caint control the poop and their is nothing we can do..when he tries to go..he screams in agony and you can tell it hurts him..he is a regular boy..once a day..but it is so hard and its hard for him to go..any suggestions....home remedies!!> > brenda> mom of tuckerFor more plagio info

Re: potty problems

Hi, ,My son is always constipated, ever since starting solids. Our dr. suggested, if it gets really bad, to use a rectal thermometer (coated in a little petroleum jelly) to help him go. Sounds horrible, but it really works. Just insert for a few seconds, then gently 'bicycle' his legs, and insert again for a few seconds. Does almost the same thing as a suppository, which works in part just by stimulating the area with a little pressure. This might be hard to do on a more mobile toddler, though!Prunes in a jar also do the trick.Having a kid makes you learn much more about bodily functions than you ever thought you'd want to know . . . .Good luck!> someone please help..tucker (15 1/2 months) has a very hard time going poopy...it is very hard and they are like small pebbles..the dr...(same as doc band) says that it should correct itself and not to worry about it..he says tucker caint control the poop and their is nothing we can do..when he tries to go..he screams in agony and you can tell it hurts him..he is a regular boy..once a day..but it is so hard and its hard for him to go..any suggestions....home remedies!!> > brenda> mom of tuckerFor more plagio info

thank you much..i will try that tea thing

Re: potty problems

,Livia had this problem for awhile and all I did was give her a little bit of prune juice mixed into her apple juice. That seemed to help. They Glycerine suppositories are ok for babies, but I could not imagine trying to put one in a toddler. Has Tucker been eating anything that might have caused this? Banana's are a suspect. I have IBS and it is hard (no pun intended) to stay on track. Here is a list of foods that can cause severe constipation:BananasHard cheesewheat (too much can be hard to fully digest)eggsMaybe try the prune juice and see what happens. A good thing to do if Tucker goes from constipation to diareah frequently is diluted peppermint tea. It helps the digestive system and really does wonders for the intestinal tract. Sprinkling some oat bran on cereal and yogurt is also a great thing for kids who will tolerate it. I hope this helpsAnneMom of LiviaDOC Grad 12/01CanadaFor more plagio info

Re: potty problems

,When Kaylie was a baby, she had a hard time going as well. My ped told us to give her a tablespoon of Karo syrup in, I think, 4 ounces of water. But then again, she was a little baby, so I don't know if Tucker would need more than that. Also try giving him some fruit juices, pieces of fruit (pears are good for this), or raisins. These things really help the twins when they are binded. Take notice to what you are feeding him, bananas have a binding effect. Check with your doctor again, Tucker really shouldn't be in that much I don't think. See if its safe to give him a stool softener.
