Hi all,

I do not have high Aldosterone but my doctor decided it WAS a good idea to at least try the Spironolactone. I am on 25 MG only, once a day. She stopped all my other medications. My doctor was concerned because of my low BP which was confirmed. Well, since 1/26/2006 to now, things have gotten better. I saw the doctor again in early February and she was ecstatic. She was shocked at how good I looked, how healthy. I showed her from my records how my BP is much better except for the Dysreflexia. Also, because of my creatinine in December she is referring me to a kidney specialist. I do just have the solitary kidney. She said I had gone from 1.2 to 1.4. Being seen this month was for repeat blood work.

She is the best doctor working with me. I had my BP summaries with me and she could see that my low BP out number my high BP spikes. It is more obvious that something is wrong when I spike and that is great. Everyone knows what it is now. We are just waiting for me to get strong enough to travel to my Ehler-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) geneticist in Boston, MD.

The fun thing is, while my hypo- hypertension is more stable,. I am worse with the OI and POTS (EDS related stuff). For example, when I sit, my left leg goes dead (gets numb), when there is pressure on the blood supply. But, when I was young this happened a lot. A very old memory. I recall that sleeping on my left side caused my whole left side to be "dead". Years later, I learned to carefully never sleep on the left. I outgrew that as I got fatter :-). Nowadays, it is fully understood that I have all my GI malformations on the left. I lost weight this year and with the Spiro, I am somewhat dehydrated.

Anyway, the thing that is getting to me is this. If I sit awhile my BP slowly drops. That is an EDS thing and again no big deal. (An EDSer is SUPPOSED to have orthostatic BP, OI and POTS). But, what's new ... is that more frequently ... I am getting really REALLY lows. (And my doctor knows about this). I also learned to recognize when it happens. My hands will get cold. Again, nothing new. All this are symptoms I had decades ago. I had BP since early childhood. My hand will get dusty dark or blue and be ice cold. Once I move, they get normal again. I did check my BP a few times and did confirm low BP.
