Guest guest
Kelli- Welcome to the group. Luke sure is a cutie! Did you have heartburn during your pregnancy? Man, he was born with a lot of hair! From his newborn pictures, it looks as though he has a slant on the left side of his head/face. I think this is called bossing and is an effect of tort. I see what you mean about the tilt. My son has tort too and a flat spot on the right side. That is great that your doc actually took measurements. I wish mine did that. I know we got improvement with the plagio between 2-4 months, but I don't know how much. We did a lot of repositioning and then at 4 months, the progress stagnated. You are lucky he is still young and you will be able to get correction - if there is a problem. Wow! You have quite an difference in age with your kids. I am hoping to be able to do that too! Guest guest
Hi Kelli & welcome to our group! We're glad you have found us! Luke is VERY cute! He looks like a happy little boy . His big brother in the picture is quite handsome as well . Are all 4 your kids boys? (I've heard Logan as a girl name too). You have your hands quite full! Good luck with the neuro appt Thurs.. Your neuro possibly will order Xrays or a CTscan to rule out craniosynostosis (premature fusing of the skull bones). For a list of good questions to ask your neuro at your appt - check out www.plagiocephaly.org then click " questions for the Dr " . Has Luke had any type of physical therapy sessions to help with the tort.? What is the Cephalhematoma that you said he developed? Were the measurements your ped. took of Luke's head at his appt his head circumference measurements? Or were they different? I've just asked you about 20 questions! LOL - sorry, I've been known to do that from time to time! If you and/or your Dr. do decide to band Luke, he's still at a great younger age to achieve great results. Again, welcome - we look forward to getting to know you & Luke better. Best of luck at your appt. Thurs.. Guest guest
Hi ! Guess I should clarify, the only measurement the Ped took was head circumference. I'm gonna go look at his pic & see if I can see what you do,lol. I am gathering all the ammo I can to prepare for what seems like will be an inevitable fight w/Cigna. Oh,I had major Reflux when I was pg w/Luke! But w/boy #3,Logan,I didn't have anything and he had more hair than Luke does! > > My almost 5mo.old has not been dx'd yet but sees a Neurosurgeon > this > > Thursday(at my request).I am sure he'll be dx'd w/Brachycephaly & > > Tort.Brought the flat head issue up w/the Ped when he was 3 > mos.old > > and she did measure him & we decided I'd continue w/the > repositioing > > I'd started about a week earlier. She said it'd round out on it's > own > > eventually(uh huh).Anyhow,by his 4 mo. visit it had gotten a bit > > worse.Don't know his head measurements just that at that visit it > was > > in the less than 50th percentile.Had also brought up the Tort > issue > > at the 3mo. visit & she thought it was just favortism because he > > seemed to have full ROM. > > I have been gathering pics and looking at them I can see a tilt at > > about 1-2 wks. of age.He was also developed a large Cephalhematoma > on > > the top right of his head.I had a 17 hr.labor & have a small > > pelvis. My prior son had presented w/Shoulder Dystocia.Well,I have > > some pics I uploaded, please have a look & I'd appreciate any > > feedback/advice. > > Kelli, mom to Cory(18),Nick(5),Logan(2) & Luke (5mos.) in Indiana
Guest guest
In his newborn pics it looks as though the right side of his head is taller than the left. I can't really notice it in the other pics, but that might be because of the tilt and of course the hat! > Hi ! > Guess I should clarify, the only measurement the Ped took was head > circumference. > I'm gonna go look at his pic & see if I can see what you do,lol. > I am gathering all the ammo I can to prepare for what seems like will > be an inevitable fight w/Cigna. > Oh,I had major Reflux when I was pg w/Luke! Guest guest
Hi Kelli and welcome to the group! Luke is such a handsome little guy! I can notice the tilt in the pictures also. Neither one of my twins were diagnosed with tort, so I really can't help you out there. Hopefully , our tort 'expert' will chime in once she's back in town. She will really be able to give you tons of info. Good luck on Thursday at the neuro appt., please be sure to let us know how it goes. And again, welcome to the group!
