Hi & welcome to our group!

Logan is at a perfect younger age to begin helmet therapy. Do you

know what type of helmet/band Logan would be getting? There are 3

commonly used helmets/bands that our members children have or

currently are wearing.

There is the DOCband made by Cranial Technologies. This band costs

$3,000.00 from most clinics. Their website is www.cranialtech.com.

This band is only available from Cranial Technology clinics - I

believe there are 13 of them in the US. Check out their webpage for

more info.. The DOCband is the ONLY product Cranial Tech. makes &

their physical therapists/orthotists only treat plagio babies with

their product.

There is the STARband made by Orthomerica. The STARbands average

cost (I think) is around $1,000.00-$1,500.00. The STARbands are

available from certain local hospitals and are treated by orthotists.

Finally, there are locally made helmets. I've heard of these helmets

costing as little as $500.00. I'm not sure how much they cost - I

would estimate an avg of $1,000.00 but again, I'm not sure.

Check out www.plagiocephaly.org then compare some cranial orthosis

for some good information.

You can appeal your insurances decision. MANY group members have

been denied coverage of their band/helmet but have later won on

appeal. Who is your insurance company??

Best of luck with all of this. We look forward to hearing more from

you. Welcome again.
