Guest guest
I am a 31-year old female that has been diagnosed with blood pressure problems since 18. After having a crisis in 1996 at the age of 20 (admitted to ER with bp of 220/140), I have been on high doses of several types of blood pressure meds. Several years ago, my cardiologist diagnosed me with hyperaldosteronism, but no MRIs have shown tumors on my adrenal glands or that I have hyperplasia. I've been tested for Cushing's and it has been ruled out at least twice. I have high cholesterol (that is genetic) and high tryglicerides, but am not diabetic. I am overweight, but I weighed much less when I had my crisis than I do now. For the most part, my bp stays under control, but I am having issues lately with my bottom number staying in the 90s or low 100s, while my top number being normal (120s). I am also zapped of energy most of the time. I am sure weight loss and diet changes will help some with everything and I am working on that. I would just like to know what causes my high blood pressure and I am afraid that answer will never come. Are there any other females out there that have gone through this similar path? Did age matter with finding or not finding a tumor? My original PCP in high school told me that I might not be able to be accurately diagnosed until was in my 30s. Now that I am there, I am still waiting for the tumor or hyperplasia... Any stories or support would be appreciated. Tonia
