Guest guest
Hi ! We actually haven't had to appeal yet because we haven't officially been denied. We are still waiting to hear. I expect that we will though, which is why I asked you and for your information. Oh get this, I was told that UHC is one of the better insurance companies for coverage. I almost fell out of the chair when I heard this. I'm not too sure about that. CT just submitted the claim on 2/26, so we should be hearing a a couple of weeks. I hope 's hearing goes well. What about you? Where are you in the process? Hearing scheduled? Guest guest
Ana - We have been denied twice because our policy doesn't cover orthotics. I faxed them a letter requesting a face to face appeal, but haven't heard anything and it's been about 3 weeks. My guess is that they " lost " it. Did you get precertification? Here in Ohio we need precert for any DME over $1k. We also had to get it for Dane's apnea monitor, but they approved that right away. I am with about being Brockovich about this. We are fortunate that we have the means (or the available credit!) to pay for this before getting approval. I'm sure there are many parents out there who have to either forego or delay treatment while waiting for this ridiculous appeal process. Someone should sue their insurance company for losing valuable time while appealing. That family in NJ won against their dr. The same standard should apply towards insurance. I think I will contact an atty win or lose. I am on a mission. They picked the wrong chick to p.o. > > Ana - > > Any news on your appeal with UHC? > > > > Dane's mom (DOC Band 2/14)
Guest guest
and Ana, I spoke with the PR person for CT and she advised me that UHC HATES to be in the news so she suggested we contacted the Plain Dealer to do an article. She said since there are three of us in CLeveland (you, me and ) that they would be definately interested. She is sending me a copy of a similar article that was done in the Miami Herald to use as a " basis " . > > > Ana - > > > Any news on your appeal with UHC? > > > > > > Dane's mom (DOC Band 2/14)
