Hello and welcome. Unfortunately I can say this group of people have had a

lot of experience dealing with denials from our insurance companies. You will

probably notice a post just after yours from a mom that successfully appealed

Cigna's denial. I would recommend sending her an email (she has offered her

personal email address for inquiries) and see what she has to say. We also

have an Insurance Help section on our main page that I believe has some

successful appeal letters from people who appealed Cigna. You can also check

out www.plagiocephaly.org/support to find some insurance help tips. I

appealed my insurance company's decision and ultimately won, but I had to go

through the entire appeals process and ultimately an external review board to

get it paid. We did not get paid for the helmet until had gone through

the entire treatment and graduated from her helmet! It took about 6 months.

Good luck and let me know if I can be of further assistance.

My 5 month old son needs to wear a DOC band to help correct his

Plagiocephaly. Our insurnace company, CIGNA, sent the official

denial of coverage letter to us yesterday. I could really use some

help in appealing my case. I am hoping there is someone that has had

some success with their insurance company that might offer me some

insights and help. We are in a time crunch and I want to make a

strong appeal right from the start. Thanks to all who will help.

Welcome. I just signed on this week looking for help with CIGNA as

well. I have gotten some great words of advice, so you might want to

look through the last few days of posts and see what people have told

me. Maybe something in there will be helpful for you as well. We

were denied payment for DOC bands for both of our twin babies, so we

are appealing x2. We went ahead on got the bands because we didn't

want to waste valuable treatment time waiting for the appeals process

to go through. I will be happy to share anything I learn with you -

stay tuned...
