I bring my daughter to Physical Therapy 1x per week, a Cranial-Sacral therapist 1x per week and a cranial osteopath 2x per week. My 3 month old daughter has very severe torticollis and plagiocephaly (we cast for her craniocap next Monday) - but with all of her treatments for the tort we were able to avoid surgery on the scm muscle - thank goodness. The scm muscle has " released " , so we are now just trying to lengthen the muscle and do so with stretching. The osteopath has been very helpful in getting her ears to move already before we get the helmut - we still have a way to go, but we are making progress. Good luck!

Torticollis and facial asymmentryOur facial and head asymmentry is all due to Torticollis. Any one else with a band and Torticollis out there. We did not learn about the torticollis until 4 1/2 mths, it has been there sence birth. We were told to stretch 6 times daily until she is 18 mths old, mainly to help with the facial asymmentry. Been in the DOC band for 2 weeks.Any insight or advice anyone..........For more plagio info

Hi and welcome the group!

The DOC band helped enormously with the facial and ear asymmetry my son had.

He wore the band from approx. 5-8 months of age. He had the smaller eye, the

puffier cheek, the ear misalignment. He now has no facial asymmetry, even

when looking in the mirror to notice and his ears are in alignment, although

one will always be smaller. I credit a combination of massage, stretching

and the DOC band for all of it working out. I'm sure you will see great

results when your daughter is done!

Hello and welcome! Sounds like you are doing all the right things at this

time. The stretches will help with the ROM of motion and the tilt. Correcting

these issues will in turn help to correct the plagio as your baby will be

able to lay more comfortably in alternate postions. The stretching coupled

with the DOCband should yield some really good results. If you are concerned

about the stretching or the tort then a referral to a physical therapist

might be a good idea at least for awhile.

Good luck and I'm sure you will hear from some of our " resident experts "

regarding the tort issues!

Thanks for the reply At what age did you start stretching Nichols.

We have the big cheek and small eye also. I can really see a

difference looking in a mirror. How long did it take for facial

improvements?

Thanks
