Guest guest
Hi, I haven't posted for a while and just wanted to update everyone on Jessie's progress. We had her measured again and after being in the helmet 6 weeks, her cranial vault measurement went from 21 mm off to 16 mm off. At that time, it was slightly noticeable but nothing to get excited about. I was somewhat confused at the time because the numbers sounded so good but I couldn't really see any change. An additional 2 1/2 weeks have passed since those measurements were taken and last night after her bath, my husband and I both said we finally noticed real change in Jessie's head. I brought it up to my husband first and when he said he saw it too, I wanted to cry. I thought I was seeing change because I really wanted to and maybe it really wasn't all that noticeable to anyone else. If anyone is logical and sees things for what they truly are it is my husband. I know he wouldn't have agreed if he really didn't see significant change. Wow! I feel like I've been holding my breath for the last 8 1/2 weeks for this helmet to do its job and last night I finally exhaled. We see improvement in her ear misalignment as well. We live in Ohio and it has been sooo warm (80's). I had Jessie on the baby swing yesterday and took off her helmet for 10 min's or so. Watching the wind blow through her hair and thinking how good it must have felt to her made me think again how unfortunate it is that our ped was so negligent in all of this. To think that treatment options were available and they weren't shared with us because our ped didn't agree with those options. To think if we had known there was anything wrong at all instead of being told all was fine " it'll round on it's own. " Jessie has been done an injustice by this ped (who by the way we have since switched from). I can only hope that other babies will benefit from this ped's experience with Jessie as I don't think this ped will ever be able to look at a baby with a flat head and not think of Jessie. (I'm almost certain jessie was her first patient whose parents pursued treatment and didn't listen to the rounding out theory) Anyways, I'm going to take a break from the computer for a few months. I'll be going off line as of the 20th of this month. To the moderators: Do I need to unsubscribe? When I come back on line I definitely want to reconnect to this group, see how everyone is doing and let you know how Jessie is as well. Let me know what I need to do. As for ALL of you in this support group: you are fantastic individuals! Thanks for educating me and for all the support and laughs. I include this group in my prayers each night and will continue doing so. God bless all of you and your precious little angels, Theresa and Jessie
Guest guest
Theresa - That is great news about Jessie's head. When I first noticed a big improvement in Dane's head I cried. Did Anthem ever " find " your claim? If you need me to go after them, let me know. We'll be seeing you at StraightAhead I'm sure. Here's to a rounder head! Guest guest
Theresa: What a nice post! ) I have switched you to "no email". That will leave you as a member of the group, so you can certainly check in, or even go back to individual mail when you return. Enjoy your break, and we'll look forward to hearing from you! Guest guest
Theresa & Jessie, Your post gave me goose bumps this morning! I am almost close to tears myself because I'm so happy for you all- and I know exactly where your coming from- we could have changed the names and it would be almost our story exactly. I'm so glad that Jessie is getting great progress in the helmet- and I'm sure there is more to come. Please do check and let us know how you are all doing! Good luck and sending you lots more growth spurts and hugs! ' Mom
Guest guest
Theresa, I'm glad to hear that you are finally seeing some improvement. That must feel SO wonderful. I hope your ped has learned a lesson and will do right by some of her other patient's with flat heads to make up for the wrong she did to Jessie. You don't need to unsub - we will just switch you to web only. That way you won't get the emails, but you will be able to go online and check the posts on the webpage. Best of luck to you and Jessie!! Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma

I'm so happy you've finally seen noticeable improvement with Jessie's pretty head! I know how it is to be hold your breath just dying to see some improvement, then when you do see it, you're not sure if it IS happening, or if you're just dreaming!!! SO that's great to hear your husband sees it too & is an honest voice! Enjoy your computer break - can't wait to hear back from you in 3 mos or so bragging about Jessie's round head!
