Guest guest
Thanks Kendra, I hope you are right about him adjusting. It just looks so big on his head! My husband says he looks like Darth Vader. We have a cat named Luke, so this was a big joke all day :-) He sits there like he is afraid to move. He also has trouble turning his head b/c the helmet is so bulky. It just doesn't look comfortable. Not to mention his tort tilt is back with a vengence. sigh. The helmet sits low on his forehead and on the back of his neck, so when on his belly he can't look up far b/c it hits the back of his neck. I asked the ortho about this and he said that was the way it was suppose to be. I just don't see how he can wear this thing comfortably. I guess we'll see how it goes. Guest guest
Hi Dana, i'm keeping my fingers crossed that gets used the helmet quickly! Madeleine gets her helmet next Wednesday from Arthur Street as well (the ct scans were done last Friday and everything was ok - phew!). I don't know if you have seen any other babies in helmets since you've been at the hospital but we've seen two different babies. They both seemed fairly comfortable and happy in them when we saw them... unfortunately we didn't get a chance to talk to their parents though. How did he sleep last night? Did you get him to sleep in the helmet? Darcy PS What's 'the Wiggles' ?? Re: We picked up 's helmet!/Kendra Thanks Kendra, I hope you are right about him adjusting. It just looks so big on his head! If after a few days you haven't seen any major improvements, I would return to the hospital for some sort of adjustment. Have you seen any other kids in this helmet type? Do those helmets look like 's? I agree that if he's not adjusting well that he can't be comfortable. Does it seem too heavy for him?? Please let us know how he's doing! Guest guest
Hi Kendra, I'd have to say things are improving a little. He napped yesterday with his helemt on and seemed to do ok. He seems to do better asleep than awake! haha We haven't tried nights yet! He woke this morning and we put the helmet on him right away. He did not cry and tolerated it for a full hour. Hooray! We even saw a smile! I'll try to keep the helemt on him today for as long as possible. I don't want him to think he's being tortured. HE still looks uncomfortable in it, and cries when he gets on his belly. He's trying to crawl and I think the helmet is hindering him somewhat. BUT I have seem some improvement. It's only day 3...and I feel confidant that things will improve. One question, I notice that the skin on the right side of his forehead kind of slides down near his eye when the helmet is on. This does not happen on the left side. I am sure this is because his right side of the forhead is protruding a little and the skin catches as we put the helmet on. Does that make sense?? It's hard to explain. Anyway, just wondering if this was normal of do we need the orthotist to make an adjustment. So far the red spot on his forehead disappears in 1/2 or so and doesn't appear to be sore. Dana mom to Ont. > > Dana: > > Congrats on getting 's helmet! Yay! > > He should adjust fairly quickly.
