You will be amazed at how little they care about the helmet once they adjust to having it on their head. It sounds like you are doing the right thing by putting it on and then trying to distract him. 2) He's sweating like a pig. How often should I take it off and wipe him down? He just seems so overheated. Try to dress him a little more lightly then normal and keep him where it is air conditioned if the weather is warm where you are right now. You can take the helmet off every hour or so while he is adjusting and wipe him down. 3) When will the sweating stop? the sweating should stop with about 2 to 3 weeks as his body temperature adjusts to wearing the helmet. In the meanwhile just try to keep him cool and keep wiping him down! >> Glad to hear that he is in the helmet and hopefully he will adjust really quickly and you will start seeing results very soon! Keep us posted on the sweating and sleeping!! Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
Guest guest
Dana: Congrats on getting 's helmet! Yay! He should adjust fairly quickly. Some babies don't take to it right away, but I've never heard of one NOT coming around. The sweating should decrease within a couple of weeks, but in the meantime, wipe him down when ever you feel it's necessary. Ditch the socks and sweaters, and stay cool (it's quite hot there these days, I hear!). Good luck, and keep us updated! ) Kendra We picked up 's helmet! Hi all,Well, we have 's helmet. Needless to say, he is NOT impressed. So far I have managed to keep it on his head for 45 minutes. He screams and tries to take it off. I distracted him with "the Wiggles" which is why he kept it on for as long as he did. Please tell me this will get better. I know most babies adjust right away, but my son has a mind of his own.I have a few questions:1) Will the helmet disrupt his sleep? Right now he sleeps from 8pm -7am. I can't tell you how much I want this to continue :)2) He's sweating like a pig. How often should I take it off and wipe him down? He just seems so overheated. 3) When will the sweating stop? Thanks.Dana (mommy to )Ont.ps. oh, FYI, an orthotist from Australia was present during 's fitting. He said that he has travelled all over the States learning about the molding helemt/band. He lives an hour from Melbourne. He was impressed with how the band/helmet was so accepted in the US as a form of corrective therapy. For more plagio info

It really should not. I have heard more good stories about kids adjusting and sleeping like babies than I have heard otherwise. Keep an eye on how its sitting and make sure the ears aren't pinched too- I hope adjusts well to his new nightcap! 2) He's sweating like a pig. How often should I take it off and wipe him down? He just seems so overheated. I was told by CT with the DOC band to take if off every 3 hours the first 3 days and wipe of the sweat to avoid heat rash. If he looks uncomfortable, take it off and wipe him down but the longer he wears it, the quicker his body temp. will adjust to the new "hotter" headgear. Keep him dressed very cool and turning on the a/c or using a light blanket will help too. 3) When will the sweating stop? He should adjust by the end of the first week, but it may take a little longer. He will still sweat with it on, it never really completely went away, just got to a damp point. Good luck and let us know how does, especially sleeping! ' Mom
