Lori,

Do you have any pictures posted somewhere so all the " plagio policemoms "

could go and have a peek at what he looks like now? I think that would help

in offering you some advice and reassurance. I know that this cannot be easy

for you, but hang in there.

If everyone else thinks his head looks good, than it probably does. Once he

grows hair (he will eventually!), it will draw attention away from his head

and more onto his face. My daughters head did not get 100% correction, but

I'm happy with it, I can accept that it is not perfect. No one notices the

flat spot (I've had strangers tell me that she should be in commercials

because she is so pretty), and her hair is finally growing in and it really

does make a big difference.

I Badly Need Advice

Hello. My son has worn a locally made passive helmet for 8 months.

Compared to where we began, he has made good progress. We started at

10 1/2 months. We did not know about the DOC band. His head looks

good from the front and sides, but the back of his head is flat all

over. It looks wide. He still has no hair, so that may be part of

the problem, that we notice everything on his glowing white head. I

called CT today, and they told me that they usually don't band after

18 months, although they will, and they can't guarantee results. We

live in Seattle, so the closet clinc is in California. My son would

be over 19 months by the time we got the band. Everyone, including

his pediatrician have told me his head looks good. I guess since we

have gone this far, I want perfection. Does anyone have any advice

for me? Thank you. Lori. P.S.- His flat spot is pretty much gone,

it's just that his head is symmetrically flat now.

Hi Lori,

I can only comment on our experience with CT and the DOC band, but

developed a high pointed area on the top right side (right back flat) and I

was told that the point will not go away so to speak. Whatever was there

would remain, however, the band worked to fill in areas around it that would

make it look less asymmetrical because the head would be more filled in

around it (did that make any sense!?). He still has a higher point, but the

areas did fill in around it so its not noticeable to anyone but us. You

could call the CT clinic in CA and tell them the situation and see what they

think about the chances of it improving bearing in mind his age. With more

hair growth as well, it will probably not be as profound as it appears to you

now. Good luck on whatever you decide- keep us posted!
