Guest guest
Hi Welcome to the group! My second son Dylan was diagnosed with severe plagio. He started his treatment of the DOCband at 8 months and i saw good results the back of his head has rounded and his facial assymmetry has gone. His ears have even moved slightly. He did go into a second band but i knew this from the start that he was a 2 band baby. He started the second band in February just after his 1st birthday he will be wearing this DOCband till the end of may. He still has some bossing on his forehead and thats was this band is concentrating on. For me and Dylan the DOCband has done wonders its an amazing invention. You can decorate the bands and its not on for a long time out of their lifes. The only thing is Dylan has no sense of danger as the DOCband as protected his head from bumps as well. I wish you good luck and i am sure you will get lots of replies from this group they are very informative and very friendly. Guest guest
Hello and welcome. Sounds like you are really on top of this situation and have some good doctors working with you. That is GREAT!!! My daughter wore a locally made helmet for about 6 months and we saw some really good improvement. Her flatness and assymetries were considered moderate to severe so we had a tough road to travel - couple that with starting at 9 months and the road was really uphill. We are happy with the choice we made and think that she looks great now. She is perfect to us even though we do have some lingering assymetry and ear misalignment. Are you getting a locally made passive helmet or a STAR or DOCband? I'm glad you have joined us and hope that you will keep us posted on your decision. Guest guest
Welcome to the group!!! My son also was dx with tort at 2 months and was in therapy from 3 months to 9 months of professional and at home pt. We opted for the DOC band at 5 months due to many of the problems you listed, the flat spot, the smaller eye, ear misalignment. I am happy to say those issues are resolved due to both the DOC band worn for 3 months and agressive physical therapy to work on loosening that tight neck muscle. We had about 95% correction. Your child is at a good age for correction, I think you will find great results as well. Are you using a locally made helmet or STARband, DOC band? We have many members with all different types of helmets and you will find great responses to your questions regarding your particular type. This is a great bunch of parents, willing and eager to help out the next person down the line, so ask away all that you can!!! Good luck and please keep us posted on the helmet and your child's progress! ' Mom
