Guest guest
AnnMarie, Here is my honest opinion of 's facial asymmetry: Now remember, this is after scrutinizing this picture for a good minute, and knowing what to look for, I can see just mild tightness on the left side- it looks a little like he is tight and the muscle may be pulling those features. I think that you should start massaging his face- start when he's sleeping so its easier. I would massage lightly upwards in circles around the jaw bone, the cheek bone, the fatty part of the cheek, the ear area, the eye area- really get the entire face, even forehead, chin, nose bridge (I do it all)! to totally relax those muscles in the facial area. PLEASE- remember, I am a nutcase that looks at heads all the time and tilted posture!! I have a trained eye that I can't shake- to a fault!!!!!! When I first looked at , I could see nothing!!!! I'm not kidding- I really had to look hard! Then I started really examining him and thought he looked a little pulled to the left. OK> having said that, what wacko stares at your kid with a magnifying glass like I just did? No one. So take this with a grain of salt- and don't be alarmed by someone's opinion all day at work! But I really think massage will benefit him greatly (coupled with stretching to get that muscle stretched out) though- and I will keep you posted on what's happening with our results with the chiro when we see him. Please email me to talk anytime! ' Mom
Guest guest
, Thank you so much for your response and esp. for the massage techniques. KKR showed us some really good jaw/facial massages to do and we are trying. The stretches are so hard to do , is his own "little man" now, totally independent - he doesn't even want us to feed him anymore!! He is walking all over the place and just basically into everything. He definitely does not want to be held down or confined in any way - esp. if he is being stretched or strengthened. I'm glad the jaw/facial massage can be done when he is sleeping. Please believe me - I did not take any offense to what you had to say about his facial asymmetry!! Actually I welcomed your kind response!! After what I was told on Saturday about him having severe facial asymmetry, your response made me feel so much better!! Thank you so much for making me feel better today, as I am still struggling with what to do about the DOCband. KKR said I should call Straight Ahead on Wednesday and let them know whether I'm going to band or not. What a tough decision to make. Thanks again, and make sure you let me know what the chiro says. I'm very interested. Still thinking of taking to one. KKR had no comment as to taking to see one. Give little an extra hug today!! AnnMarie & (14 mos.) Guest guest
AnnMarie, I think sometimes we are too focused on this problem- we see it so much that it consumes us and the outside world is like, what's the problem? Not that there sometimes isn't one, but sometimes too much information can also be a bad thing and now that we are able to key in on minor asymmetries, it can help but also hurt us because we are so focused on it, we can no longer not spot the problem that other people have a hard time noticing. Just my opinion! Whatever you decide, will be the right thing for - you are his best advocate so you'll choose the best path for your family. Good luck- its a hard, energy consuming process just to decide!! By the way, could you please share with me any other " righting " exercises besides tilting towards the tort side to make them right their head that KKR might have given you? This would be very helpful to us as we are working on strengthening that right muscle but are often at a loss for more than that exercise and variations of it. Thanks for all your help!!! Haven't rescheduled yet for chiro- checking on dates with hubby that will work for us both- but I will get him in there soon and let you know the outcome. Thanks again for your support as well and good luck to you all in your " new " therapy! ' Mom
