Guest guest
- Guess what? My friend took her son into work. There is an OT there and she said Aiden does have tort! This is the boy whose pictures you looked at. The OT said it's pretty mild. I told Lori to still bring him up here to see . They love an hour away, but I told her it was worth the drive! He has slight flat spot, but has a big bump on the back of his skull. Maybe he will be banded too??? I also emailed a picture of my kids to another friend who I hadn't seen in 3 years. He responded within like 15 seconds. He has a 3 month old with tort and plagio. Is tort that common and I didn't notice it before? Maybe since babies are born bigger these days, there necks are being cramped before birth. I find it odd that I know 2 people with young infants with tort. Thanks for your help. Who knows if that ped would have ever picked up on it. I don't know how he missed it before because his head was always hanging to the side! Guest guest
, Way to go Sgt. Your instincts proved right- unfortunately! Thankfully she has a friend like you that informed her of this problem and got her moving on this while time is still way on her side. I'm glad to hear that it is considered mild. Looking at the photos, (as we now have 20/20 hindsight!) it was clear to me that he was ear to shoulder and looked like tort, as you suspected too. I know what you mean about tort seeming more evident. When I told my friend about it, she said her friend's daughter had it and I saw her a few months later and she was ok (was a little delayed, but I would never have known it was tort- except she did drag her leg a little). And just this week, my husband's Uncle came for a visit and he starts telling us that his grandson tilts his head to one side and they told him he'd grow out of it!! We told him we were in therapy for 8 months with that! For some reason, I don't know why, even my own family likes to make light of the situation- not that I'm going to constantly harp on this and say how much work it was- but I feel like they don't understand the severity of the situation. In my case, it was a large baby problem, but many women have smaller children, but they still don't have a large enough space inside to accomodate even 6-7 lbers. Good work and be sure to steer her towards the tort and plagio support groups, it helps to know there are bunches of us! Good work!
