As the school year draws to an end, I was just wondering what all of you do

with your kids during the long, hot summer......especially those of you whose

kids do NOT go to summer school. will go to summer school for 6 wks.

but only for three hrs. each day and not on Friday's.

Would like some ideas for the " nonschool days " ...of course, now that 's

headed back from college for the summer, I have my " built in sitter " back

again.....LOL.

well we keep busy, with summer school for three days a

week, only 30-60 minutes each of those days all of

june and again beginning of august until school starts

in late august, then there is bible school 2 weeks,

and swimming lessons 2 weeks, and ofcourse swimmming

all afternoon, most days, and camp in july for a week,

little brother in baseball too, a few cubscouting

activities, did i tell everyone nathan just earned his

wolf badge a couple weeks ago, he was very proud, as

we were. Nahtan will continue SCL, pracitcing road

safety, and hopefully riding his trike, if we can get

soon, church is seeing about helping us with funding,

everyone please pray for this. And he is learning to

use the phone too, and will attend Drop-in Center

activities such as picnic's or shopping and sports

like baseball and soccer, and reading books for the

library's summer reading program for free minipizza's,

and camping occasionallly on a good weekend. Our

summer's are just as busy if not more than our falls

and winters,lol. shawna.

a...that is great...UCP bought us 2 adult size 3 wheelers and my kids

love them...we live in a court and have trained them to go to the end and

turn around...I still have to sit outside to make sure no one runs them over

but it has been the best experience.

Congrats...

Elie also has sumer school for 6 weeks - 3 days a week allday - Tues, Wed.

Thurs..

He will also go to camp for a week.

Outside of that we bought an INTEX pool. He spends lots of theday playing

in and out of the pool.

We also will try to do some w/e trips - mostly longday trips.

We do not do crafts - he hates them. Work on cooking fun things - and some

just fun - like dyingeggs, making mud pies. We do a lot of talking and

singing because its fun and it helps his speech.

Hopefully we will do some more trike riding - Elie has a RIFTON BIKE.

(bought by the county) And yesterday we bought a scooter with a double

platform - great stability. We are working on that push, glide skill.

And Elie will spend a lot of time in his room playing with his babies and

listening to music cause that's what he like!

Maddie has ESY. Her school closes only for 2 weeks. So, she's entitled to

five days a week, six hours a day, just like she gets now. However, I know

there'll be lots of time missed, since whatever we do as a family, she'll do

with us. She's doing so well at school that I'm going to make a concerted

effort not to pull her out too much this summer.

What's ESY? That's good that she's excited about

finishing the school year up, I bet that most kids are

excited. Yea hopefully the summer won't be a total

disaster with any of you with your children home.

ESY - Extended School Year.must be deterined (in most cases) by the IEp team

meeting.

Maddie gets ESY becauseher school barely closes. Elie will have ESy more

limitedly than Maddie, but againfor most of the summer. Other years, Elie

has had as little as none or 16 hours for thewhole sumer! one gets to

pickones batles!!

Gosh I'm sorry a. :-( We applied for music and gymnastic camps for

the girls in December. Got second and third choices on the dates. I think

March must be very late to apply. Oh hey Donna? Stoudsburg anywhere near

you? Maybe I could swing by and get to see Maddie when I take jo to

camp! I'll have to check the map. Good luck a if you're going to look

for a second choice.

Hi a,

I would call the camp and beg! I'm so sorry!! Is it too much to ask that we

have just one good week without all the surprises. It just never seems to end.

Gail,

Stroudsburg is up in the mountains. I would say it's 1 1/2 hours away

from me. You're always welcome at my home honey!!! :-) When are you

headed that way?

,

I plan on applying for camp for Brook soon for next year in light of what

happened. It is harder for us to get in because Brook needs a 1:1 and they

have fewer slots for those. Unfortunately we don't have a place for him at

camp this year but my sister Steffie from Boston said that she would come out

and watch him so that we can go on a vacation. I think we really really need

one this year. I also want to check on Camp Costonoan it looked really nice

on the website and was closer than Camp Krem. I'm definitely going to try and

get that set up soon. By the way do you have Medi-cal for any of your

kids and how do you get diapers from them? Thanks,

Marisa,

Mom to Miles 14, Brook 11, and Genevieve 3 yrs

We let the camp know we would be applying when we left there last year.

Sent in our application in Nov. Our camp hires for summer over the

Christmas holiday since they use many college students who are taking

special ed courses.

And it doesn't guarentee a slot. Marisa's Brook didn't get into this camp

this year, he did attend last year:-( Hope he can go to another this year,

and be back at Camp Krem next year if it works out.

ds/autism/celiac), (6 ds/ADHD/Celiac), and Esther (4 ds). All adopted.
