I cannot believe just how smart is becoming. For a while now, he has known what the phone is and what it is used for. He will pick it up and put it up to his ear and say, "Uh?" Well, that's all been cute, until now! Today is his 15-month-old b-day and the day wouldn't be complete without at least one milestone: Actually answering the phone.

Here's what happened: We have some friends of ours that are really annoying and won't let us breathe. Plus my husband is in the police academy right now and is gone all week, so these people feel they need to pity me and take care of me. So they call me and invite me up to dinner at least once a week, which is nice...but they have to call every day and the wife wants to talk to me for hours on end. Needless to say, there are many times that I let the phone ring when they call. I just don't have time. To give you some background, they have caught me doing this before. The other day they were in the area, and they called, but when I didn't answer, they still came over unannounced...talk about embarrassing...I had to pull some excuse out of my butt about why i didn't answer the phone. They are very pushy overbearing people, and needless to say, the husband is my husband's friend from the Air force.

Anyway, I could go on and on and on about them, especially his wife, but here's what happened. The stalkers called and I checked the caller I.D., saw that it was Mike's cell, so said, "Yeah, I'll pretty much catcha later." So then I counted from ten to one and then my cell phone rang (did I tell you they are stalkers?) So I didn't answer my cell either...well, when I don't answer my cell, it automatically transfers back to my home phone, so my phone rang again about twice, and then all of a sudden it stopped ringing. I thought, "Good grief. Finally they gave up" Until I saw the phone lying on the floor (that I thought was far from 's reach) with the on button lit up and the word, "Talk" on the screen. I picked up the phone and sure enough, had answered the cordless and then dropped the phone on the floor. I had to talk to them and make up some excuse again what just happened. On one hand I was happy that he knew how to answer the phone, but then I thought, "My son has just done his first embarrassing thing to me." I am still in shock that this happened! Can you believe it?
