We went to Frontier Days across the border in Kansas on Saturday and had a great

time.  made arts and crafts, including a little tee pee with stone people

for Native Americans.  He also helped plant trees and flowers at the historic

fort (as part of activities coordinated with Boy Scouts of America, which he has

been involved in since 2003).  We also saw demonstrations of bread baking, lye

soap making and muzzle loading, played Native American games, and saw and heard

dancers and singers from the Kiowa, Caddo, and Commanche nations.

If your son is not in Boy Scouts (and your daughter not in Girl Scouts), I would

encourage them to join.  was in Scouts from 1998 to 2006 and had a lot of

neat activities and joined when he turned 11 in 2003 (Cub Scouts before

that, starting at age 8)

Thought I would share some of our fun weekend with you.
