Rhiannon's helmet

Hello to all:

Just an update - we received Rhiannon's helmet yesterday, and

everything is going very well. Rhia has not cried because of the

helmet once, and she even slept with it on last night. Boy, was I

surprised to see some changes already this morning! But then again,

she is so little so I suppose that having her NOT put pressure on her

flat spot can really make a difference.

As far as the orthotist meeting, everything went really well too! I

don't know if the manager had talked with her, but she came in to our

meeting very informed, open to suggestions, and had a great " team "

spirit. Also, she did make allowances for the forehead to allow that

to grow. At this point I am thinking that she must have had an

extremely off day - which is no excuse - but she really was a

completely changed woman. So, I am giving her another chance, as

long as the information remains consistant to all of the research I

have done, your suggestions and experiences, and Rhia's Cranial

Osteopath. However, I am on guard and observing every detail very,

very carefully, and am still going to call CT for their opinion.

Also, I just returned home from Rhia's appointment with her Cranial

Osteopath. He is helping us by manipulating Rhia's occipital bone to

try and get it to move back into position (actually, he manipulated

more than just that bone, but the occiput is his focus). He looked

the helmet over as well and was very pleased with what he saw. He is

interested to see how things go for Rhia now that the helmet with

help " hold " his adjustment, instead of her previous rolling to the

flat side, and to see how quickly he can get the temporal bones (and

the ears) to move into position.

Well, that's all I have to report for the time being. For some

reason, getting this helmet for Rhiannon has been such a relief that

I am finally able to take a deep breath and let go of some of my

stress - and I find I'm EXHAUSTED. It's hard to be a

mommy/wife/expert on plagio-tort/therapist!!!:~)
