Guest guest
Hi Jim & welcome to our group! A lot of pediatricians do take a somewhat laid back approach to plagio & torticollis. The " wait & see " approach is very common with many peds.. You are doing the right thing by questioning that advice. I see replied to you already with great information. My daughter's pediatrician suspected Abby had tort at her 4 week chk up & referred us to physical therapy, where they later determined Abby did not have torticollis. I was lucky to have such a great ped.. Is your son still just 2 mos old? You sound very concerned about all of this, I would suggest scheduling another appt with your ped. to discuss your concerns & request to be referred to both a physical therapist as well as a ped. neurosurgeon to evaluate 's head shape. Check out this site for additional information: http://www.plagiocephaly.org/support Welcome again - please be sure to keep us updated on and whatever you decide to do. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi Jim and welcome to the group! I have to second what Marci said. 2 months is really early to catch the plagio and it is an excellent age to start to agressively reposition. I would think any kind of doctor or specialist, even a company that makes helmets/bands, would recommend that you try repositioning for a few months. Again, like Marci said, be sure to take plenty of pictures of ' head shape from all angles, and if he has a lot of hair, make sure you wet the hair down. This way, at his 4 month appointment, you will have proof for your pediatrician that the repositioning either is or isn't enough, and then you can take it from there. Good luck Jim, and please keep us posted! Niki Kaylie & Danny (STAR grads) Phila., PA > My son was diagnised with plagiocephal and torticolis at his > 2 month check-up.
