Guest guest
Thanks so much for the update. Please be sure to let us know how their appts go with Dr. . I am happy to hear they have both adjusted happily to tummy time! That's not an easy task, I know! Good luck with repositioning in the mean time. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Please keep us updated. Guest guest
Jungle_Buns, (sorry, I don't beleive I caught your name) That is wonderful news that the twins have taken to tummy time so well!!! By the time your appointment comes up in May, you might not even need to go. Be sure to take plenty of pictures to help you document all the improvement you are seeing, just so you know your eyes aren't playing tricks on you! We have quite a few parents here who are in the Boston area, hopefully they will chime in here and tell you their experiences at Children's. As for Zack and his limited range of motion, maybe you could call EI (Early Intervention) and have a PT evaluate him and to show you some stretches. Good luck with it all! But no sadness about it- that's great that you are helping out so much- Mom has a lot going on too so teamwork is great!! Your all in this together- if it weren't for the help of my hubby I might have went crazy Sounds like Zoey is enjoying that tummy time with her amazing thumb! ) The hold does help a lot to seperate the neck and the shoulder and create a nice "space" that you don't often see when they tilt so much. Glad to hear things are truly working out- hats off to you Dad for all your hard work and cheers to mom for all her hard work too! Please keep us posted and if can help out in anyway, please email me! ' m
Guest guest
Sadly I'm the dad. SADLY???? Nooooooo! You sound like a GREAT Dad!! ) Look at you doing all of this research while Mom is so busy! You both sound great! Keep up the good work! (and I love your screen name!) Kendra Re: Zack and Zoey update... > Keep up the great work mom!!!! Anja the mom is much too busy feeding the twins, readjusting their heads, convincing them neck boppy's are fun, moving toys to the opposite side of their heads during tummy time, etc.... to possibly log into a group -> I do print out postings for her to read. She's happy if she has enough time to have a shower and eat lunch during the day. Thanks for the excercise tips..I just naturally did a couple of them on my own..but that carrying position should be fun. I've been amazed by how much Zack's neck strength has improved from the tummy time. He can hold his head up..turn it side to side..for at least 30 seconds now. Meanwhile Zoey uses the time to reacquaint herself with her thumb (it's so much easier on the tummy..the thumb is just sitting there waiting for you). Guest guest
Ken, sounds like you and Anja have your hands full. I have a two month old that I'm working on repositioning. We just went to the Dr. yesterday and I told her about this group and all of our recent boppy purchases. : ) She is hoping that since we are going at repositioning so aggressively Kayla will not need to be banded. Kayla has a preference to look to the right, the same side as her flat spot. We decided it wouldn't hurt to go to physical therapy. We'll be starting that in the next couple of weeks. Keep up the good work on repositioning! Kathy Brighton, MI Re: Zack and Zoey update... > Keep up the great work mom!!!! Guest guest
I tried to do some casting practice with Zack yesterday Ken: When my Hanna had her casting done, it wasn't so much the stocking over her head that bothered her. They played peek-a-boo with her and coochie-cooed her, so she didn't mind. It was me holding her down and the warm/wet feeling on her head that she didn't like. Like you've heard, it goes fairly quickly, and once the babies can be up in your arms for hugs and kisses, they should be just fine ) Who knows, you may not even have to go thru the casting at all - but it's good that you are aware and preparing for all possibilities! Kendra Re: Zack and Zoey update... > I agree. Sadly, not at all! If I hadn't done all the research for plagio, > I have educated my husband while he watches > Sports Center and Mariner's games. My view shifted from: Zoey breathing, Zack breathing, drat that Iverson scored again..Zoey breathing, Zack breathing, etc...I do internet research for everything, so it's only natural to use everything available to us to make life better for our babies. I mean if I spent 4 hours trying to decide on the best home speakers, surely I can spend some time researching the first thing wrong with our babies. You have all inspired me to keep it going, though I admit I can't talk to anyone without checking out their head shape. I tried to do some casting practice with Zack yesterday (as I pulled his sleeper off I let it rest over his eyes and top of head). He thrashed around gasping like a fish out of water. We definitely have some work to do if he ends up needing a band of some kind. For more plagio info
Guest guest
Kathy..good luck with the repositioning. I'm still a little frustrated by this because we knew about plagio and bought a special sleep position system (which claimed the pillow was made of a foam designed by neuro-surgeons to greatly reduce plagio). Hence, we wrongly thought we were not in danger and their little heads would round out in no time. Still, I'm lucky to have a pediatrician who took it seriously right away, knew about the bands (!) and referred us to an expert to kick off the process. He said he refers at least 2 or 3 kids a year to get banded. Still, we've seen modest signs of improved in both noggins with ever so slight areas of roundess in the flat spots. I'm really hopeful that we can avoid the banding..but that sounds alot better than surgery! Good luck! Ken Kathy <kathy_m_wilson@...> wrote: Ken, sounds like you and Anja have your hands full. Guest guest
Kathy, Good for you that your being proactive and having a therapist check out the preference to the right- this could be causing flatness on that side. Your repositioning will certainly help and please keep us posted on how its going! Good luck! ' Mom
Guest guest
Hahahhaha! You crack me up Dad! Hey, as long as their breathing! And you are now officially part of the head police too! How great! You will never be able to look at a baby's head without checking for that flat spot!!! I hope you don't have to go the helmet route for Zack but if you do, the casting process is over in 10 min. Good luck to you all and please keep us posted! ' Mom
