Guest guest
Reid got his DOC Band today and has been adjusting quite well!! Dh and I were so afraid he'd remove it constantly (he is almost 19 months old and could easily do so), but each time he reaches for the velcro, we create a huge diversion. Today was a really positive day, we really strived to make this a big deal for him, cheering him on, bought him a few new toys and just had fun! Us having this positive attitude has really helped us in answering questions from neighbors and friends who we saw already today. You see, with Reid being older, the chances of results are much diminished, and this makes it easy to feel somewhat discouraged at times. But we are trying to be very confident in our replies to people who may say " but I never even noticed his head wasn't round " , because we know our attitudes will ultimately show through to our son. I think I just needed to get that off my chest for me. Sorry for rambling, but this has just been (much to our surprise) a great day, and we are so proud of our little guy. Thanks for listening and I'll keep you all posted. Reid's Mom
Guest guest
: Wow, you are just such an upbeat mom! Way to be! I am so happy things have gone so well for Reid in his first day. I would have been nervous too about him trying to pull off the band, but it sounds like you have created good diversions with new toys & stuff! I will definitely keep my fingers crossed for Reid to hit some growth spurts over the next few mos.. I really hope he gets some correction! Please be sure to keep us updated on his progress. Guest guest
Hi , I am very glad for you that Reid adjusted to his band so quickly and you had a great time with him. I sent you a link to the article about treating plagio in older children. It was very positive and I thought you would like it. It didn't go through. Here is the link again: Dynamic Orthotic Cranioplasty: Treatment of the Older Infant Great overview on how banding therapy has been successful in children over 12 months of age! http://www.neurosurgery.org/focus/sep00/9-3-5.pdf We are going with Katya to CT today to check if there is any improvement. I hope there is. I will let you know. Good luck to you, Leana, Katya's mom (15 1/2 month old, banded on 03/13/02) > Reid got his DOC Band today and has been adjusting quite well!!
