Kellie, that would be awesome if UHC would give you a waiver to get

the DOCband, I have never heard of an insurance company doing that.

You might want to check out Orthomerica's webpage ( maker of the

STARband) and go to their find an orthotist location to see if their

is an ortho in your area that will provide the STARband.

http://orthomerica.com Cranial Tech and Therapies are few and far

between, it would be great if they did have at least one center in

each state (hint! hint!) ;o) Good luck Kellie!

What the insurance company will do is authorize her to use an out-of-network

provider as an in-network provider for that service only and usually they put

a time limit by which you must go. This is only something they will do if a

suitable specialist cannot be within your network.

Oh !

I can't believe they would say they didn't receive it, even after a confirmation call!!!! How frustrating! :o(

Re: Cranial therapies

That would be amazing if UHC would do that. They have given me the royal run around. Those **##?! I faxed a second request for a face to face appeal after they "never received" the first one. I got a confirmation call that they got it. I just called yesterday and they "never received" that one either. I finally wrote a letter of compliant to the DOI. They will regret the day they decided to tango with me. > In a message dated 5/1/02 8:14:07 AM Central Daylight Time, > niki_jay175@y... writes:> > << that would be awesome if UHC would give you a waiver to get > the DOCband, I have never heard of an insurance company doing that. >>> > What the insurance company will do is authorize her to use an out-of-network > provider as an in-network provider for that service only and usually they put > a time limit by which you must go.
