hello

zac has been wearing his helmet for 5 weeks now and i wish i could

take it off him i know we cant but i am getting so fed up of the

stares and people asking what is wrong with him i feel like he is

constantly on show hes been called a spaceman a baby alien but the

worst thing has been a man saying that it looks cruel and that people

might think that i have harmed him i cannot believe that people would

think that but it did upset me any way his head shape is improving

thaankfully his plagio is severe so weve got a lot more months to go

can any body advise me whether they got sufficient results for severe

plagio with 1 inch assemetry of ears after 6 months or did they have

to keep it on longer

thanks

I am in shock that someone could be so rude and ignorant! I am glad that you let her have it!! I would like to find that lady and give her a piece of my mind too :)

~ That is so true, I look at things so much different now. It makes you more compassionate towards people for sure. Especially people who might have something that would cause others to stare at them. Your story about you and Dane sitting with that man makes me feel so good inside and happy that there are kind people out there :) And it also makes me feel good inside to know that you hopefully have effected that ignorant woman who made the comment so that she will think twice before she opens her mouth in stupidity again! :) and Grace

Hi :)

I am so sorry to hear all the insensitive comments people have been

giving you. We get enough comments here in America & helmets are

much more common here than they are in the UK, so I'm sure people in

your area are very uneducated about what the helmet is used for. I

really feel bad for you. Why can't people just keep their mouths

shut if they don't know what the helmet is for or politely ask?

Those comments they're saying about Zac are just mean and uncalled

for :(.

BUT, don't let these people stop you from putting Zac in the helmet!

Imagine these people 15 yrs from now seeing Zac with his still severe

plagio had you not gotten him a helmet saying such rude things to Zac

when he is old enough to understand & comes home crying. You are

saving him from a lot of teasing in the future. TRY to ignore these

comments & let them be another reason for helmetting Zac in the first

place.

The good news is that you have already noticed improvement! That is

terrific. Keep it up & know you are being the best mommy you can be

by helping your son. Next time you get a rude comment, turn the

other cheek, walk away & kiss your beautiful Zac.

Hugs to you. Please keep us update & keep your chin up!

This will get easier over time. I was super concerned about this

when we first got the band, but after about a month, I don't notice

it that much. We were at the zoo and my husband said " Why are

people looking at us! " Anyhow, I would suggest decorating the

helmet if you haven't already done that. It makes it a lot more

fun. You can check out my son's band in the photos section under

Dane.

I've heard it all! I usually have a comment to come back with when

someone is rude, like " You probably could have used one of these

too. Your face has some asymmetry. " One lady asked me if Dane was

retarded. I just laid into her. I said " Do you know how incredibly

rude it is to ask someone that? " Then I bored her with our story.

Needless to say I think she will consider what she says next time.

She was almost in tears.

Since we decorated the band, people are pretty considerate. They

think it's a hat. Today in the store, a lady yelled from 2 aisles

over " Oh, how fun! What a cute hat. " She was very nice. I talked

to her for about 5 minutes telling her about plagio. I didn't keep

her there, she was interested and asking me what I thought of her

son's head - isn't that a riot! I now just think of it as an

opportunity to educate people. When someone just stares, sometimes

I say " Isn't he sweet? " or " Is something wrong? "

I figure I can be strong for Dane for a few months. It is easier

for me to do that than to have him put up with it his whole life!

Good luck,

,

Your so right when you say this experience has educated you on how " other "

people are treated when being different. It makes you realize that this

world is so superficial and so into what a person looks like, that if your

really different, the world almost doesn't embrace you. Very sad!
