Guest guest
Bonnie~ With Grace and her helmet we got used to looking at her in it right away. I thought it would take forever but now it is just her. In fact my mom was saying the other day that she is going to miss her little helmet when she is out of it because she thinks she looks so darn cute in it and she does! As far as people and comments go with us it was so strange because I was expecting all of these comments and the only comments we would get was how beautiful Grace was and what a cute baby she was. It took about two months before anybody even asked about it when we went out and we took her out alot. Everybody was very nice about it that did ask. I think I have had a total of four people ask in the almost four months she has been in it and it is a good opportunity to educate them on tort and plagio. We also chose the helmet mainly because of the flatness and drifting of her head due to tort. Well good luck to you just thought I would give you my experience! and Grace

When people asked about it I tried to be as informative as possible - I looked at it as a chance to " spread the word " . If people stared I would look at them and say, " She's cute isn't she? " . Then they either agreed and asked about the helmet (or made polite conversation) or agreed and walked away. Either way I got to brag on my sweet baby and get past the staring. Everyone handles it differently and you have to go with your threshhold of comfort. You will handle it perfectly no doubt!! Guest guest
or anyone else- Did you notice when you first got the helmut that your child's tilt got a little worse at first? Since yesterday it seems Dylan is tilting a little more. What do you think? Bonnie hags1@... wrote: Bonnie~ With Grace and her helmet we got used to looking at her in it right away. Guest guest
Bonnie, It will take a very short time for you to get use to her in the helmut. He apparently is already use to it if he's sleeping well with it. It's funny, because Jace has had his band on for only 3 weeks and when I take it off for his one hour a day, he head looks so tiny. I think it might take me longer to get use to it off then on~ lol~. As far as people asking questions, for me it has been a pretty good experience. Most people asked me why my child is wearing a safety helmet. Some are very direct and ask "what's wrong with your child". And there are those who just stare. I will admit that I don't like the stares. I just want them to ask me. But some people just aren't comfortable enough. As I learned here, babies will tilt more when they are trying to comfort themselves. So he may do this for a few days. Nothing to worry about. Just continue with his exercises. Guest guest
Bonnie~ Even though the helmet is so lightweight we did notice at first that she tended to tilt a little more when it was on. And sometimes we notice the tilt is worse depending on if she is tired or teething. So I don't know if it was the helmet that made her do that more when we first got it or something else? ~ and Grace
Guest guest
Hi Bonnie My son is in the DOCband and his name is Dylan as well. I do understand how you feel. Most strangers who have asked me about the helmet have been ok, they mainly think its a crash helmet or an hockey helmet. Dylan was the same he slept in it straight away and i was lucky just a few red spots to begin with but no major problems and it did take time to get used to it at first but now when he has the helmet off (bath time) he looks so different, he looks alot chubbier with the helmet on. So when i get asked about Dylan's helmet i just explain that is to correct his head shape. I know that the helmet is doing a job and i have great faith in it and i know its not for ever. Take care and lots of love to your Dylan.
