Guest guest
Thank you for your responses! We were told we can use our respite care to help pay for the aide, from our local regional center... and that this is something new: using flexible spending for your respite to pay for not-quite-respite services, like extra therapy, or in our case, an aide. And the total respite hours we can get on our area is 480 per year--we meet with our case worker in a few weeks (we are new to the area and transfering services). Also, and I did not mention it before, our son does qualify for vision services, so we have been told to try that avenue instead. For sure we can get a vision specialist to come to the school (we have done this in the past at another school) but not for the entire time he is in school. We will keep advocating and keep you all updated as it may help another family like ours! Nolan Down but not out.
