Guest guest
Christi, First let me say " Yippee " that Tricare has agreed to pay even part of the band. That is a huge milestone for Tricare as I have not heard of them paying for any bands before! Have you spoken with your CT clinic? They should be able to provide some great documentation showing that the earlier you start the better the correction. Have you checked out the bookmarks secion of our homepage? There should be some good links to articles that could help you. Also check out CTs homepage and see if you can print anything off there. Good luck and I REALLY hope you have success. I think that will spell success for future members who are working with Tricare. Good work and hang in there!! You are doing GREAT!! Guest guest
Hi !! WEll I am so completely frustrated with Tricare. There is a bit of good news I suppose. Tricare has agreed to pay $1050 of the $3000 for Myas DOC band. The reason they will not pay for the rest is because they said we did not get prior authorization. WEll DUHHH how can you get authorization if they denied you???? I cant quite get that. Its just a nother way for them to try to get out of it I suppose. My husband has been contacting all sorts of people who somehow got Tricare to reevaluate our claim because they denied us saying that it was available at our local military treatment facility which it of course is not. So after reevaluating it the paper they sent me says that $3000 is aproved but they are only paying $1050 because we didnt get authorization from them first. ANyway so My husbands first sergeant wants several different things one of which is articles saying that Mya getting the band as early as possible was a necessity. I need something saying the earlier shes in the DOC band the better. Because he is going to try and tell Tricare we in no way could wait for them on this we had to go forward with treatment because it was time sensitive. SO anyway if anyway has any such info or knows where I can get it please help! I need it by Monday and Im going nuts! I guess I should be glad they are atleast paying for what they are but I just think its rediculous they are trying to find something else to see if Ill give up! WEll the fight is not over till they pay it all!! Thanks for your help Christi mom to MYA (DOC band 3/6/02)

Christi: Have you asked Cranial Tech for a letter about the younger the age the better for their treatment? That would be my first step. I'm sure they will be happy to help in any way. If not, what about your pediatric neuro or specialist if you saw one. Then if not them, what about your ped.? I am surprised to hear Tricare has even agreed to pay $1,050.00! I think you're the first Tricare customer to receive any coverage for a band/helmet. Now I'm hoping they'll cover the rest. Good luck, please keep us updated. Guest guest
Christi, If you go to the Cranial Tech website, under Information Center (http://cranialtech.com/infocenter/infocent.htm), and scroll down to the section for Peer-Reviewed Journals, you will find a study titled "Importance of Early Recognition and Treatment of Deformational Plagiocephaly with Orthotic Cranioplasty." I think this may be just what you need...
