Guest guest
Bonnie: Glad to hear Dylan has already adjusted to his new STARband w/o any trouble. I know exactly how you feel. I too was so upset seeing my Abby in her STARband for a week or 2. I even cried about it. Trust me, you will get used to seeing him in the band soon. You'll probably think Dylan looks different when he's not wearing the band after a little while . You are doing what's best for Dylan, keep telling yourself that. The most important thing is that Dylan couldn't care less that he's wearing the band. You'll be happy once you start seeing results. Please keep us posted on his progress. Good luck on your trips out in public with him (I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised). Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad MI > Hi Everyone! > > Today was the big day! Dylan got his STARband today. Guest guest
I'm so glad to hear Dylan doesn't mind his STARband. My daughter will be getting a STARband too and I'm hoping she adjusts as well as your son is. My daughter also has mild plagio and mild tort and I feel the same way you do about having her go through this procedure if it's not completely necessary. But by the time you find out if it's the right decision or not, it's too late to band. So I'm going the route you are and going with the band. Lots of luck. > Hi Everyone! > > Today was the big day! Guest guest
- When will your daughter be getting the STARband? Does she have TORT also? Dylan does. Keep us posted. Guest guest
Hi Bonnie, I'm glad to hear that Dylan has adjusted nicely to his STARband. It really is quite amazing how resilient these kids are. I know it took me longer to adjust to the twins in their bands, than it took them. It took me a few days to get used to seeing them in their bands, but I think the biggest thing that helped me feel more comfortable about it was when the bands were decorated. The cute little stickers and rub on transfers made everything look less sterile and medical. A lot of members here used going out in public a chance to help educate others. You might want to consider keeping a few handouts on plagiocephaly in your purse for those that have questions. You can find some sample ones in our Files section, Plagiocephaly/files/Help% 20Folder/Handouts/ Good luck Bonnie, and be sure to keep us posted on how Dylan is doing! Guest guest
: Dylan's head is a little asymmetrical (right side is flatter than left). His right ear is slightly more forward than the left, and one eye socket appears slightly bigger than the other. You really have to point it out for people to notice. He has a very minor case. But, we don't want it to get worse. I'm definitely not thrilled about the helmut. I'll keep you posted. Good luck. Bonnie allygal2002 <valerieriuli@...> wrote: Bonnie,Allyson does have mild tort. None of her docs noticed it. But I'm an occupational therapist and I noticed that she tended to turn to the right more than the left. So I checked with one of my physical therapy friends who said she did have tort. We've been ranging her neck and it seems to be loosening up. I'm hoping to set up a casting appointment for her soon. The pediatrician and neurosurgeon both said not to band. My ped said it won't round out but her hair will cover it (not what I wanted to hear.) However Allyson's neonatologist (she's a preemie) brought the whole idea of banding up to me. That's why I'm confused about what to do because her case is mild and people keep telling me not to have her banded. Her face appears symmetrical but I do notice that the right side of her forehead is slightly more prominent than the left. It's not really noticeable now but I'm concerned that if her head keeps growing like this, then the prominence will become more noticeable. Is there any asymmetry to Dylan's face?> > Hi Everyone!> > > > Today was the big day!
