Hi michele

Help is here. This group is great and everyone is very friendly. My son is

in his second band as he was diagnosed with severe plagio. I have seen

amazing results with the DOCband. Hopeyfully Dylan will be finished about

the end of may. He has tolerated it well and with seeing such good rounding

of the back of his head and his facial assymetry has gone also his ears are

misaligned but saying that i have noticed that they have moved slightly and

i have been told that they tend to move at the end of treatment. Please keep

us informed and i am sure you will get lots of responses from this group.

Please feel free to email me anytime with any questions

Best wishes

Kerry - Marcus (3) Dylan in DOCband (1)

Michele,

Welcome and I'm glad you joined us. I think you will find all sorts of

support and advice from the parents and professionals here. We've all been

through this experience and we have learned and grown together. While

choosing to use a helmet or band on your baby is an extremely tough decision,

I think you will find that there are very few parents out there that regret

their choice. Plus, 6 months is a good age to start so your son would have an

excellent chance of getting great correction.

Don't worry too much (I know, easier said then done) until you see the

neurosurgeon and see what he/she has to say about your son's head shape. Best

wishes to you and please stick with us and let us know what you decide to do.

Michele,

Hi and welcome the the group!! You have found the right place, tons of

parents in here going through or have gone through what you are about to

embark upon! It seems sad at first, but you will realize after it all

settles that this is very trivial compared to what some children and their

parents endure, it will just take sometime to let the shock wear out!

Believe me when I say I was so overcome with grief and worry- but there are

great parents here to help with those bumps in the road because we have all

either been there/done that/ or contemplated it! My son also had

the flat back side and a slightly forward ear. We chose the DOC band at 5

months and his ears are symmetrical now, flat spot gone as we knew it. I

would recommend checking that sleeping position- is he always turned one way?

Can he look both ways? Is he able to keep his head straight? If not, this

could be a sign of torticollis- and not to alarm you- but sometimes Docs

don't always dx this problem. I only throw it out there for your

information, its better to be safe than sorry. Torticollis is basically

tight neck muscles, so its not anything that can't be worked out through pt.

Good luck to you- we're here with you for any questions you may have!!

Please feel free to email me anytime and keep us posted!

Marci,

Thanks so much for your support and encouragement. I'm so glad that I found this group. goes for his 6 month check up on April 30th and then he goes to the specialist on May 17th. So until then we're working really hard on repositioning. Hopefully that will work somewhat. 's condition is mild and hopefully not getting any worse. It's just hard to accept that my child will be so different than the norm. Then again I sure wouldn't want him to be physically different once he gets in school. Does that sound awful? I hope not.

Thanks again for your encouragement!

Michele

Kerry,

Thank you so much for your support. Everyone's stories are amazing and

are helping me quite a bit. goes in for his 6 month check up on

April 30th and then on May 17th he goes to the surgeon. So until then

we're working really hard doing all of the repositioning that we

possibly can. He's such a sweet baby. I just hate that he has to go

through this. I know God will lead us in the right direction. So far

he's brought me to this group! :-)

Thanks again!

Michele

It doesn't sound awful AT ALL!! It sounds like a concerned mommy - a good

mommy.
