potty training my son.... I am so PROUD...

Hi everyone,

I dont post very often but i love to read all posts and stories etc.

i love to hear the expiriences that everyone has & tho im quiet i

share the joy when i read amazing posts and the wonder of others and

ok well Im sure you all get what im trying to say.

Anyhow i do need to be more active and here is my first attempt... my

ny is 7yrs & 8 months old now. We have over come so much in his

short life and i am always amazed and proud of all his

accomplishments big & small.... Well for the past few months my 2

concerns were... will he ever find interest in talking {completely

nonverbal} and would he ever learn to use the potty.. well...

Here is how it happened, one moring about 2.5 weeks ago ny woke

up dry in his pullup. As always i tell him you need to pee like a big

boy before you leave for school or you will have a leak and Ms kelly

will have to change your clothes.. {he is very picky about his

clothes and hates to have them changed during the day} all of a

sudden as im getting my other 4 kids ready for school he is in the

bathroom just yelling ahhheeeeeeaaaaeeeeooooooo and sure enough he

peed on the potty!!! He walked into that bathroom after our talk and

took it upon himself to usethe potty!! Well for a few days it was

sometimes on potty some times not but he wouldnt poop on potty. Well

after a week he was peeing on potty 95% of the time and only maybe

had an accident a day then he started to ppop on potty and its been 5

days with not 1 accident!!! He will go when we tell him to and when

he feels the urge he marches in does his thing and hollars for us to

get in their... We praise him like crazy everytime!!! Our 4 other

kids praise their brother and we do the pee pee and poopy dance we

hug & kiss we high five we thumbs up and then we eat nys potty

treats which are either m & ms or skittles... For the longest time i

wondered if this day would ever get here!!! Finally he was ready, it

was like everyone told me... when ny is ready he will let

you know. Sure enough he was ready and he let me know. I guess that

morning he was set that he was gonna do it and get to wear his

clothes all day without his aide changing him!!!

I wanted to share this not only to show how PROUD of my sweet little

man i am but also to let any other mom reading this and wondering is

it ever gonna happen.... IT DOES!!! And wow the joy we feel with him

every time he uses the potty is great..I am so excited everytime and

i honestly have been put into tears at the joy i feel...

so thank you all who have read my long post and good luck to all who

are wondering like i was.... and yes it will happen...

By the way the school wants him in pullups for a few more weeks so

ny proudly wears his underwear over his pullups!!!! It is a site

to see!!!
