Hello Reid's Mom! Welcome to the group! Glad to hear that you have gotten the

process underway and will soon be receiving Reid's new " hat " . We do have some

members who have started with a band at a later age and hopefully one of them

will respond soon. My daughter started with her locally made helmet at 9

months at got good correction in the 5 1/2 months she wore it.

I know how trying and stressful this decision must have been for you, but it

is very, very rare that a parent regrets the decision to band his/her child.

You will be amazed at how quickly your baby adjusts - kids are SO adaptable!

What kind of helmet will your son be receiving? DOCband, STARband or locally

made helmet?

Let us know how it goes on Friday!

Hi Mom to Reid,

I know how you felt on the decision to just get the helmet- for us we debated

too because our Doc didn't feel it was necessary. It was eating away at us

just to come to a decision to do it or not. In hindsight, I don't know why

we made it such an arduous process, it was really the best decision we ever

made. I think your such great parents to want the very best for your child-

and you have the right frame of mind- even 5-10% correction is still

correction!!! Good luck to you all and please keep us updated. We do have

parents here that have banded their children at an older age, and I hope they

will chime in with their feedback. You could probably find topics on it

through the archives as well. All the best to you and Reid, sending you lots

of luck that you'll get some resolve on this issue!
