Guest guest
Hi again : I see that you'll be getting a STARband. The casting process that I described to you earlier was for the DOCband. Abby had both the STARband & the DOCband, and the STARband casting was a bit different than her DOCband. I am quite sure though that each orthotist has similar yet different casting procedures for the STARband. Abby's STARband orthotist, gosh I'm trying to remember now, it's been 1.5 yrs ago almost! Ok, her STARband orthotist had Abby sit in my lap and covered my lap up with a sheet so my legs didn't get all wet & plastered. I don't remember the STARband orthotist covering her entire face with a stocking, I think it was just her head (I cannot believe how blank I am, I guess I blocked it out, like labor pains!). Abby's STARband casting took about 15 mins, a bit longer than the DOCband but still not long. Again this varies from STARband orthotist to orthotist. Also for her STARband casting, there was no place to wash her off & bathe her after that. It really won't be bad. The process is fast & painless to the child. I found myself worrying for wks before Abby's castings and the anticipation was much worse than the actual process.! Let us know when the casting is scheduled.
