-- I'm not sure where to get good stickers, but I've heard other people

say they use s or order them online from simplystickers.com. My son

is 6 months old and has been in his band for a month. We chose to have it

painted. It turned out really cute. I looked up painters in the phone book,

found someone who did childrens murals and talked to her. She painted it for

me (of course I got instructions of what was and wasn't allowed from CT) and

we love it. The whole band is like a cloudy light blue sky , there's a red

airplane on the front, and his name in skywriting on the side. Then there is

pearlized sealer over it all so it's a little shiny. If you would like to

see a picture email me at JLHarroff@.... There was also a decorating

book at the CT office-- we use the Dallas, TX office-- that had decorating

ideas of stickers and paint, and also a woman who painted bands with prices

for them. Good luck decorating! Once your son sees how many more people

talk to Gabby and say how cute she is he won't be so worried. The other kids

at daycare are great with my Caleb. Charleen (Gladewater, TX)

There are a multitude of stickers and rub-on transfers from 's. I chose to choose the rub-ons because they didn't come up on the sides like stickers. I think they have like two aisles just devoted to stickers and stuff. Yes, acrylic paint is what you should use, and then use some kind of acrylic varnish to seal it. I royally screwed up my son's helmet by painting because I am just no good at stuff like that. So with his second helmet, I stuck with stickers and rub-ons and bought special rub-ons that would spell his name across the front. It was super cute. However, if you know someone who can paint, or you yourself can paint, that does turn out so cute. I wouldn't have sent my son out in public, though, the way I screwed up his helmet. Oh, it was awful. But don't let me scare you. There are plenty of folks on this board who have successfully painted their child's band or helmet.

And yes, s, Wal-Mart and many other craft stores usually have a large variety of stickers and rub-ons.

Have fun!

This is silly but......

I wanted to ask a good place to get stickers to decorate the band with. My 12 year old son is having a hard time with gabby wearing the ugly helmet as he calls it LOL. At first he was mad at me for even doing this. I have explained to him how he would not be very happy if he had the same problem and I chose not to do anything and his head was funny shaped now at 12 years. He agreed but was still worried about people making fun of her to which i said Do you really think Gabby would even know????? He just is very protective of the twins so I did show him the photos at CT and he agreed those kids looked pretty cute. Anyways I told him he could help me decide what to put on Gabby's band. He wants to paint it too but I'm not sure how much of a pain that is. So about the sticker...is s or Craft Mart a good place to get stickers?? And if we do paint,do I use acrillic paint? And what do you put over it? Just curious if anyone here painted theirs...don't w+ant to do it if it chips easily!! Thanks~ and Gabby and overprotective NickFor more plagio info

I think it is so sweet that big brother is so protective - Gabby has a

wonderful big bro there! You can use just about any kind of stickers. I found

that the metallic looking ones don't stick worth a darn. I also found that

the smaller the sticker the better is worked. Great big stickers were hard to

get down smooth because of the curves of the band. Some people would put a

clear coat of finger nail polish over the stickers to get them to stay

better. I never did do this, but I peeled them off (with a product called

" Goo Gone " which can be bought at s) each week and changed them to a

new theme. We have had lots of members who have painted, but I'm not that

artistically talented! LOL! They did use acryllic paint and I believe used a

clear acryllis sealer - several layers to reduce chipping and peeling. You

should check out www.plagiocephaly.org/support for some good decorating ideas.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out!
