Robyn,

Hello and welcome - I'm glad you have joined us! It sounds like you are on the

road to a rounder head. The casting is one of the hardest parts so that is

behind you - what a relief. It sounds like you like the person you will be

seeing at CT and that is a good thing - it is so important to trust and respect

your ortho. As far as the 3-4 week thing, I think it makes sense that since your

baby is older the adjustments are going to be fewer and further between. As long

as the ortho is open to you coming in whenever you feel like there is an issue

between times, I think the timing is probably okay. If you ever feel like

something is not right with the band be sure to call and schedule an appointment

even if you haven't hit the 3-4 week mark!

Good luck and please keep us posted. We have LOTS of parents here who used or

are using the DOCband so you should be in good company!

Robyn,

Now that the dreaded casting is over, so is the hard part!! I think you will see great results, it may take a little time realistically, but let it do its thing and I think you'll be very pleased with whatever amount of correction you get. My son has tort and the stretching exercises were so much easier for us (and him!) while he was conked out. He was much younger then, and he's not such a light sleeper anymore- but you can incorporate good stretches just by the way you hold him, making him look to the unfavored side by using toys (blowing bubbles helps too!). Try to make this a team effort and hold him while someone or something distracts him and you can use those things to your advantage by making them move up, down, left, right, whatever it takes to make him interested in looking all around without moving his body (hold his body in place while he looks so he's not using his entire body to look for him). Good luck to you and if I can help you in anyway, please email me. You can also check out a great group for tort at torticolliskids for more tips, support and info on treating the tight neck muscles. I will attach a link that shows a few stretches as well. Keep us posted on those progress reports!

Hi Robyn

My youngest son Dylan is currently in his second DOCband (he had severe

plagio). It has worked wonders. Dylan started at 8 months old in his first

DOCband and was 1 when got his second. I still go bi-weekly and Dylan is

15months now. I agree that the growth rate has slowed down but i thought i

would just let you know. Lots of luck to you and keep us posted.

Kind wishes
