Guest guest
- She is truly a doll! I know summer would be uncomfortable with your head covered, but the bands (STARBand and DOCBand) are open on top. The DOC Band is so light. I think it is about 6 oz. When I hold it, it literally feels like nothing. I have never held a STARBand, but bet they are similar in weight. I wish I had a scanner so I could show you a very good picture of Dane's asymmetry before he started the band and today. The best one was taken at the Picture People and I don't have it on disk. I do notice the asymmetry on her left side with her eye and ear. We repositioned Dane for 2 months (2-4 months). While we did see some progress in the flat spot, the asymmetry never seemed to budge until we got the Band. I swear at least once a week when he wakes up, I can look at his face and tell he grew that night because it is coming back into alignment. Our dr said the same thing as yours, that it should round out. We felt that " should " wasn't a good option for us and we didn't want to gamble with our child's head. DH was worried about Dane being uncomfortable in the band. I insisted that it was better for him to be uncomfortable for a few months that have health problems and ridicule throughout his life. BTW - he doesn't even notice the band is on. I'm not saying that banding is for everyone and I certainly hope you get complete correction with repositioning. I hope the drs. are right and everyone's head rounds out on its own. We went to college with a guy who had a terribly mangled head, so I KNOW not EVERY head rounds out. It's a very hard decision. I didn't sleep well at all from the time he was dx until the night we (I) decided to get the band. That night I slept like a baby, because my mind was finally made up - one way or the other. I think dh agreed just to shut me up! Good luck and I really pray you get the correction you are looking for! Guest guest
Hi , We are in Texas too, and I was a bit concerned about the heat and the lovely Gulf moisture in the air. My twins have been in their bands for 3 1/2 weeks. Yes, they have been sweaty, but the change in their head shape has been amazing. I just make sure that I dress them a little cooler than I normally would, and I tell my husband, "I have to turn the air down. It's for the babies sake." We also "air out" all the time and let them roll around in just a diaper, bands off, under the ceiling fan. They seem absolutely fine. Just think of it like a good workout - a little sweat and hard work leads to a more shapelier (is that a word?) person. Good luck with your decision!
