Guest guest
Hi there, Glad to find this board. Our son's helmet is due to arrive on Friday and hopefully we'll get him fitted the same day. Reid is our wonderful 18 month old energetic little guy. I haven't read many posts here, but know that Reid is probably the exception to the common age to wear a helmet. Are there parents of older children on here?? Our situation is one in which at 6 months our ped advised us to let it shape out on its own. It did, some, but recently my husband and I were faced with the question- if the helmet MAY help even a little, why not try it. So here we are. I only wish the decision had gone that smoothly. We debated for 3 weeks, both of us seeing both sides (to do the helmet or not to) and finally came to the conclusion to go ahead with it. I'm not going ot lie- I'm nervous and anxious about it. I want to feel totally comfortable with it and am sure that I will, but I think anticipating it is the worst for me. Don't get me wrong- I know its a good thing. I don't mean to make it sound like it's not, maybe its because he's older than most kids I've seen wearing them. I don't know- I just know, I want the best for him. We both do, and for us, that is seeing how the helmet can help. I'd love to hear from parents of older kids, and hear your experiences. Especially since we were told to only expect 5 to 10 % improvement. Hey- that's still 5 to 10 %. Thanks in advance for your support.
