Guest guest
Very good suggestion. I will call Respironics and RemStar for my next new CPAP machine. I would like to get one that operates on bateries for camping trips, and has a high altitude adjustment. The home care health providers just order the cheapest ones. > > > It is the Sleep Apnea that is bad at 8,000 feet. Hyperaldosteronism is > > > ok. I caught myself breathing through my mouth. Guest guest
Hi One more comment on CPAPs. My RemStar which is Respironics brand is over 4 years old and about the size of a good sized show box and can be battery operated. It is for 12 volt use like a normal car. I went on an outreach mission to a remote place in Mexico with my churches youth a year ago. There was no electricity. I bought the adapter for my CPAP and got some other adapters from Radio Shack. I bought a car battery and a good marine plastic case for it. I bought a solar collector from Harbor Freight. I was able to be without electricity for 2 weeks. The setup ran my CPAP fine, it also ran some good tent lights and at times some music and radios. It is a little bulky but doable. My next project is to find a lighter and perhaps more powerful battery. I used to go backpacking into the wild a lot when I was younger. I gave that up about 10 years ago, that was about 6 years before I was Dx'd with SA and PA. I can't go back packing with a car battery. I tried a lawn tractor battery with the solar collector. They are still 8-9 pounds and the collector is about 8 x 18 and an inch or so thick. So I am still searching for a lighter battery and have some good leads. I am searching for higher quality and smaller solar collector too that can be smaller and go on my backpack during the day to charge the battery. Respironics has a new CPAP that is about the size of a small tissue box, or about 6 x 6 x 6, that I have my eye on. Anyway where there is a will there is a way. I just will continue to work on my project of miniturization of my setup and I think I will be able to go backpacking and scouting again. My boys will love it and me too. I hope some this might help you, if you have any ideas or questions feel free to ask, thanx Randy <><May we all be DASHing!!!><> ---------------------------------------- From: " airlinerg " <airlinerg@...> Sent: Saturday, January 19, 2008 7:35 AM hyperaldosteronism Subject: Re: High Altitude - Sleep Apnea (new CPAP) Very good suggestion. Guest guest
Sleep Apnea is an underdiagnosed problem and a lot of people with hyperaldosteronism DO have sleep apnea. I do not know why but I will post a new surveay to check this on our group. Thank you for this valuable information. Also there is a Sleep Apnea Groups at sleep_apnea that you might like to check out for more information. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > It is the Sleep Apnea that is bad at 8,000 feet. > > > > > > Hyperaldosteronism is > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ok.
