Guest guest
Just wanted to let you all know that I will be out of pocket for a bit, here's why: Hi Kendra and all, Thanks for asking- you have a sixth sense! Forgive me for being out of pocket- we had a crisis this weekend. My father was driving an ashpalt roller and it tipped over and pinned his foot underneath, crushing it. Luckily, he had his cell phone and he immediately called 911. A neighbor also spotted him (very unusual, they are pretty remote out there) and flagged down my brother who was cutting grass (never would have heard my dad's cries for help- they live on 5 acres so he was not near him and the grove trees kind of block a lot of view). My brother was able to get their backhoe and lift the machine off his foot- but he was trapped for about 10 min.- and they could not get a pulse in the foot so they were going to airlift him to a special hospital- luckily they found a pulse and he was transported to another hospital that treats vascular surgeries. He was so lucky in that he had his phone on him, a neighbor saw him and got my brother, and they had the right equip. to get that 3000 lbs. off his foot pretty quickly. Any longer and I think he would have lost his foot. He is doing ok, his thumb was also broken, just thank God that he won't lose his foot since he loves to snow ski!! It would have broken his heart! He's a tough cookie though, and he's doing well. After a long Saturday night- they got him into surgery about 11 pm, and at 2:30am they told us it had cut to the bone and there was too much swelling to operate. Since it cut to the bone, they didn't want to risk the chance of an infection being there, and then closing the wound with an infection, so today if the swelling is down they will operate. The foot actually blew out a whole because there was so much pressure, something had to give. My Dad is 65 this year- it really scared us especially being trapped in the hot sun, he could have had a stroke with his high blood pressure! On top of that, ' great grandmother just left for NJ today and it was a lot for her to cope with at 88- she gets very worried. Thanks for checking up on me- this group is so great at working those prayers so I would appreciate a couple sent our way for my father- he means the world to me! I am back at work today but I have so much work to catch up on today that I'll probably be very light in answering. I hope to be back full throttle by mid-week! Thanks again!!! Keep us in your prayers!
