Kathy-

Katrina has torticollis so our problem was keeping her off the left side

of her head. The number one thing I did was put her to sleep on her

right side, and then I would return to her room and put her back on her

right side before I went to bed. If I got up in the night, or in the

morning before she awoke, I turned her back to her right. I know the

push is to put babies to sleep on their backs, but as I understand,

side-sleeping is acceptable. You'll have to decide what you're

comfortable with. I also purchased a prop-up mat at Wal-mart for about

$10. It's a small quilt with a detachable pillow (looks like a mini

Boppy pillow) that she could lay on, tummy down, and play or look around.

She was much better with tummy time once I purchased that.

I know there are a lot of other products on the market that are supposed

to help with plagio, but I haven't owned or tried any so I can't

recommend any.

Pete-

I already mentioned to you about putting Katrina to sleep on her side.

It was a bit of a fight at first. I would literally hold her on her side

and pat her back until she fell asleep. I compromised (in my mind) and

let her have the pacifier that I was trying so hard to wean her from...

one thing at a time, right? After about 3 days, this stopped being such

a fight and now she puts herself to sleep on her side.

Have you tried letting him fall asleep on his back and then rolling him

to his side? Since Katrina has torticollis, I've learned to do most of

my " manipulating " while she's asleep. Of course, it all depends on how

good of a sleeper the baby is. :-)

I've also used a wedge to keep her on her side, but she always wiggled

her way onto her back, so I made many trips to the crib.

Good luck to both of you!
