Guest guest
Beck, She is doing good. Thanks for asking. She doesn't even know that she has the band on & smiles when its time to put it back on. My babysitter is doing much better with it and so life has pretty much gone back to normal. We just took Annika in for her 1 year well baby visit. Her head circumference has not grown in almost 2 months. So we are hoping that means that she is do for a growth spurt. Fingers are crossed! I was very pleased with our peds reponse. She was definitely against the band. But, CT had sent her the entrance pictures and she commented about how well we had done with repositioning and how good her head looked. She never said anything negative about our decision to band. We can't wait for our fitting in 2 weeks (that will be 3 weeks in the band). I will keep you posted on the results. Thanks, Tami (mom to Annika) --- bbbhand@... wrote: > Hey tami how is annicka doing? > beck > __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Tami: Things sound like they are going very well thus far!!! It's good to hear Annika's babysitter is used to it now & it's now part of every day life . I'm hoping too that she'll hit a good growth spurt soon. I'm sure you'll start seeing results soon. I don't remember hearing it was Annika's 1st birthday recently! Happy belated bday - when was it? Hope she had a great day! Guest guest
Debbie: Yes, Annika had her first birthday last Wednesday - May 22nd. We had a party for her the weekend before. She had so much fun that she didn't take a nap the entire day. Needless to say, that night she was super cranky. My husband and I had taken videos (2-5 minutes) each Tuesday for the past year to show how much she had grown and new accomplishments. We condensed it down to under an hour and showed it at her party. The family was quite impressed and it was fun to remember when she was that small. I just can't believe it has already been a year since she was born! Time goes by soooo fast. Thanks for inquiring. Guest guest
Tami: Sounds like Annika had a great 1st birthday, napless and all . I remember after Abby's 1st bday party she napped for 5 hours! Too much action I suppose. What a great idea to video her once a week for her 1st year. That's sooo sweet. I'm sure it's amazing to sit back & watch the tape in awww of all she has already accomplished in just one years time. Do you plan to keep doing this? The 1st year really is so amazing! We condensed Abby's 1st 9 mos videos too & every time I watch it I actually cry! Guest guest
Debbie: Yes, it makes me cry too! It really is amazing to see the changes that they make over such a short period of time. Hold old is Abby now? How long has it been since she graduated? We are going to try to get a friend of ours to polish up the tape and maybe put an intro with some music on it and then give it to the grandparents. But with as busy as we are, that may not happen for another year We decided not to continue the videotaping every week. We are going to tape once a month for the next year as well as on special occasions. Before Annika got her band I had read postings from other parents regarding whether they were going to tell their kids about the banding when they got older. I really thought about that, but decided that I didn't want to stop taking pictures! I love capturing as many moments as I can. So I decided to just keep on taking pictures of Annika in the band and when she asks later, I will tell her all about it. Anyway, sorry to keep rambling. Guest guest
Hi Tami: Abby is 27 mos old already! She graduated from her DOCband almost 1 yr ago already, 6/22/01. I can't believe it's been that long! I'm still not sure what I'll do about talking with Abby about her bands. We have so many pics of her in both of them (she was in them for 8 mos), as well as video, it's inevitable for her not to ask what was on her head. For Christmas 2000, Hubby & I did give the grandparents the condensed video of Abby's 1st 9 mos., and my evil MIL was SO rude about it, the tape sleeve said " 6 hr tape " on it or something, all the woman could say was " I hope it's not really 6 whole hrs " ....FOR REAL! How rude! We've definitely cut down on pictures & videos, but we still do it at least once a month or so. Guest guest
Debbie: Sorry it has taken me so long to respond to your e-mail. Our home computer crashed and I have not been able to check my e-mail at work this week. It is Friday night and I am going through 289 new e-mails! Ugh! Anyway, I can't believe that your MIL was so rude! They just don't think before they talk. Abby is such a big girl. Everyone told me that time would fly by, but I didn't believe them. Now I understand. Before we know it Annika will be a Doc band graduate and running around like a crazy little toddler. I have also heard that the pictures and videos really decrease when you have more kids. Annika is our first, so I am naturally overboard with the pictures. Every day I get more comfortable with talking about the band. I went out to dinner last night with some friends - one has a 3 month old, the other has a 9 month old. I wasn't going to tell them about Annika's band, but I decided to just lay it all out. Well, as it turned out, my friend with the 3 month old has been noticing that her daughter always holds her head on the same side. She is going to be much more aware of her daughter's head and sleep positions now. My other friend with the 9 month old, then told me about her son's birth defect on his foot. I just thought I would bring that up, because this group has really helped me. I am so much more comfortable with the decision to band and how to discuss it with others. THANKS EVERYONE!
