Guest guest
Hi Janelle & welcome to our group! We're glad to have you. You are lucky enough to have noticed 's plagio at a great younger age. You could have great success with repositioning! We have several members who are currently trying repositioning to help their child's plagio.. Check out this website for some great repositioning tips that might help: http://www.plagiocephaly.org/support I noticed that you are from Australia, we have another wondeful group member from Australia, I thought I'd copy & paste a message that she posted last month regarding her plagio daughter. She said to feel free to email her, maybe she could give you some helpful Australia information.! It is below. Welcome again, please be sure to keep us updated on & your repositioning! I wish you the best success with it! She is now nearly 15 mths old and is crawling properly and pulling herself up on everything. We went back to the plastic surgeon 2 weeks ago and they will be seeing her on a regular basis. Her ears are still very misalligned but there is nothing they can do about that. Her head is also still flat to a degree but sooo much better than what it was. Other than that she is doing fine and we will still be going to see the OT and Speech Pathologist for follow up. Also if anyone in Queensland happens to find the group feel free to give them my email address for help as I do not receive daily mail. I need to go to the group site to read everything. I Hope all is well regards nna Skye's Mum Brisbane Australia > My 3 month old son has positional plagio, I'm in Australia and my > pediatrician doesn't seem concerned and said his hair will grow and > cover it. Guest guest
Janelle, Welcome to the group!!!! Repositioning is your best defense right now for keeping that flat spot from progressing. A few words of advice, if torticollis is a factor (tight neck muscle- may show head tilt or preference one way) then pt is also very important. Also, limit the amount of time spent with the back of the head constantly on something, bouncer, swing, crib mattress, etc. Continue to be very aware of what's taking shape, and what's not, and using pictures to document weekly growth will help to keep in perspective what is happening- our minds really start to play tricks on us- one day its better- one day its worse!! Its best to take pics with wet hair from above in the bath. My son was dx with tort at 2 months and despite repositioning, it failed to help correct what was already there and getting worse. You are at a great age to have many means of treatment, from repositioning, to banding if it should get to that point. Please keep us posted and if you have any questions, please ask!
