Guest guest
With 2 1/2 months into the helmet, I would think it would be getting smaller, rather than larger. Can you share what type of helmet this is, what age your child is, and give us a little description of your experience? This would help in figuring out what's going on here better. It does take time as you are waiting on those growth spurts, but 2 1/2 months with improvement is still a good sign that there is more to come. If there was no improvement in that time, I would say be concerned. Give it some time- you will start seeing more of that void filling in and soon you'll be posting graduation with great results! Guest guest
Sorry for the confusion. My son had the full helmet with the holes on top placed on his head at exactly 6-months. The helmet at the time of fitting was approximately 1/2 " larger around his head when fitted. As you stated it has now become a bit more snug and is filling in the 1/2 " gap. He had slight torticolis and was 3-weeks early when born. The flattening occured on the right back portion of his head that he favored while sleeping. You can see some improvement but I guess as a parent you are alway expecting things to happen yesterday so just looking for some encourgement that we'll begin to see a more dramatic change now that his head is getting snug into the helmet allow the area of flatness to fill into the void in the helmet. --- rella1234@... wrote: > With 2 1/2 months into the helmet, I would think it > would be getting smaller, > rather than larger. Guest guest
Thanks for the additional information. I agree with what has already replied to you. Improvement is often slower if the baby is in a " passive " style helmet as opposed to the " aggressive " bands (STARband, DOCband). Passive helmets rely solely on growth spurts. I am sure your son will continue to grow over the next couple mos being that he's still pretty young and you'll see more improvement. I suggest taking pictures of every angle of his head in the mean time to have photos to compare his head shape to. This really helps, becuz often we forget what our child's head looked like last week! Top view photos usually show the flatness the best with the child's hair wet down if they have a lot of hair. Good luck. Please keep us updated on your progress. Guest guest
Hello and welcome! What kind of helmet are you using? Passive locally made helmet or active STAR or DOCband? Either type will seem large on your baby's head, that is part of the design. If you are noticing change then everything is probably fine. How old your baby is will also affect how quickly and dramatically change comes around. I'm glad you have joined us and I hope you will share some more of your story with us. Guest guest
Thanks for the additional information. If the helmet is starting to get snugger then you probably will start seeing some more results as growth spurts occur. Your helmet sounds just like the one my daughter wore. It was a full helmet and had holes drilled all over it. Ours was clear see through. Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
