I wanted to share this with you because I thought it fairly funny, in a sick sort of way.

As many of you know, my son Tommy was in a DOC band last year and graduated in late October. He didn't get 100% correction, but as his plagio was classified as severe and there WAS significant improvement, I didn't worry about it (actually, since I "discovered" that the Gerber baby had facial assymetry I've hardly worried at all).

Here's the kicker: He's almost 18 months old and refuses to walk. This concerned his ped unduly and she set up a CAT scan for him, which was done last week. Now she wants me to take him to a pediatric neurosurgeon. WHY couldn't this have been done last year?

I'm not terribly worried about the walking because my dad didn't even walk until he was nearly 2...Tommy's twin Gavin walks, but Tommy goes hands and feet like Tarzan and is MUCH faster.

She is also telling me that Tommy's tort is "resistant" and she wants that evaluated too. JEEZ!

What I actually find ironic is they are doing all this diagnostic stuff 7 months after he graduates, when really it should have been done a year ago before we started all the correction stuff.

Oh, the humanity...

Jill,

My goodness your getting some tough stuff at this time when you probably just

want sleep!! Has Tommy's tort looked resolved until this point? Did he ever

favor the non-tort side of the body and just had problems with balance? It

stinks that he graduated and it seemed all was done and over with, so I hope

this is just a genetic thing since your Dad was a late walker too. Good luck

and please keep us posted. As my son also has tort I'm eager to hear what

" resisting " is all about.

WOW, I'm happy to hear how well you are taking all of this! I would

probably be all torked off if I was in your shoes, esp. being

pregnant :). Did Tommy ever have pt for his tort before?

Believe me, Debbie, I go through my Freaked-Out-Pregnant-Woman stuff too! Tommy was seeing a therapist until shortly before he graduated. He does hold his head up straight, but he is very stubborn and won't show off for NOBODY! He is perfectly capable of holding his own weight on his feet but he flatly refuses to at his ped's. It's like he has spaghetti in his legs, but only at the Dr's. Very aggravating.

On another note, I now go to work on my report on proctology, which is really a pain in the ass... :o). Its due today, I hope my teacher has a sense of humor about it. I couldn't take it seriously.

Jill,

Jeez - what a mess. I agree, they should have done it some time ago.

Oh well, maybe the neuro can offer some advice on the walking. Let us know

what you find out!

I can just about imagine how geeked you were to hear such a wonderful

comment from a complete stranger who never knew how Dane's head

looked before his DOCband! How wonderful!!!!! Small world isn't it

that she knew a baby who was also banded? What a great story!

Olivia just sounds too darn cute! From all the pics I've seen of

her, I can tell she doesn't have a shy bone in her body. Good thing

her & Abby don't live nearby, oh I can imagine the trouble those 2

would get into!!! Have you had any more bday parties for your cat??

LOL That still makes me laugh!

Thanks for sharing that!

Yay to Dane showing off his nice round head!! You must just be

beaming with pride over there, I know I am beaming for you! Its nice

to have it reinforced once in awhile that you are a good mom, and

that you are doing a good job, isn't it?

Congrats on Olivia getting accepted into the preschool!! My son went

to goes to Catholic school foe his kindergarten, but his teacher was

Montesorri trained and runs her class as such. We absolutely love

his teacher, and he learned so much this year! Remember our days in

kindergarten where we finger painted, played house and occassionaly

ate the paste (yeah, I admit it! Like anyone is really surprised by

that!)? He has a math book, phonics book, a reading book, a journal

and of course a religion book. He had a list of about 25 vocabulary

words that he had to be able to read. Then he had to write a

sentence using some of those words and then illistrate it. I'm

telling you, by the time these kids are in second grade, they'll be

learning trigonometry! Anyway, sorry to get so long winded there!

Good luck to you and Olivia!!
