Guest guest
and I'm very nervous about it. It seems like it was one thing to talk about getting and even going through the casting but to know that she'll start wearing it tomorrow is both exciting and very scary. She has been more cranky than normal lately. On Wednesday when we went in to get her measurements and photos, she even hated that experience at CT. I'm afraid that she'll only associate bad times with CT and that we will have problems everytime we go in for adjustments. I think she's finally teething again and hope that she'll get back to her normal sweet self soon. Actually, I shouldn't complain because literally her worse day is still better than a lot of kids' good days. We weren't supposed to get her band until Tuesday but it came in early which is great because can go with us to get it tomorrow whereas he had an obligation he couldnt' get out of for Tuesday. I'm just really nervous about it...she has never liked to have anything on her head and now she's going to have to wear something on her head for 23 hours a day! I am planning on making trips to 's in the next day or two so that we can get some stickers to decorate it. I know I'm sitting here just rambling but I'm just so nervous about the whole thing...not that you couldn't miss that with all the times I used nervous in this post! I'm sorry that I haven't had a chance to respond to others' posts but I've been trying to stay off the computer and spend more quality time with Mackenzie. The computer at times has threatened to take control over my life! Anyway, I'll end this...if you've made it this far through all these rambling thoughts, you deserve an award! Thank you to all of you that have supported our decision and answered our questions. It's very much appreciated... (mom to Mackenzie - to get her band tomorrow!) p.s. I know that the Loreal shampoo for kids is what I've seen recommended to use to help get rid of the infamous " stink " . Has anybody continued using the lavender bath wash? That is what we use now on Mackenzie and I would love it if we can continue to do so...thanks.
Guest guest
, Congratulations to you and Mackenzie! You may be very pleasantly surprised and find that the band doesn't bother Mackenzie. Our son n just got his band yesterday morning and I had many of the same concerns as you, but he totally amazed me. He cried briefly the first couple times we practiced putting it on with the orthotist, and even those were somewhat halfhearted cries, and since then he hasn't cried at all. We made a little bit of a game with it and let him gently bump his head into the wall to show him it wouldn't hurt with his new hat, which made him laugh. He still thinks this is funny even after a day and a half. He slept all night and hasn't even messed with it while awake. Also, so far, we've had very little problems with sweating. Our orthotist told us and I've read about many babies sweating quite a bit for the first few days as their body temp adjusts to the band. How old is Mackenzie? Good luck to you and let us know how it goes for you tomorrow! We'll be hoping for good news! > and I'm very nervous about it. Guest guest
Hi , Your probably getting MacKenzie's band as I type this- so I'm anxious to know how it went!!! Probably much better than you expected- although it might have gotten you a bit emotional. I still can't believe how I educated myself so much before hand, looked at all the cutie pie pics and then when I saw the band on my son, burst out into huge sobbing tears!! What a goober I was! I knew it was the right thing, but I felt sad for him. You may feel that way initially as well, but in a few days this will be a cake walk and you and Mackenzie will be over the adjustment period, both emotionally and fitting wise. Now your on to rounder shapes so the rough part is over and it should be smooth sailing! Please keep us posted and I hope Mackenzie as well as you and family are doing well with the new hat ' Mom
Guest guest
: You crack me up! So where's my " award " for reading thru your entire post?? LOL...that's what we're here for hun, to listen to each other! Before I forget, I am still using the lavendar baby wash on Abby & that's what I used when she was in her band, it doesn't matter! I remember the day we rec'd Abby's 1st STARband like it was yesterday. I thought I was totally prepared for it, but once we got it, I was a mess, even though Abby couldn't have cared less . It's scary, but it's the right thing to do for your daughter. I'm sure she'll be just fine! Abby never liked getting her pics taken at CT either ( I know our orthotist Jane will remember that! hehe), but for the most part, Abby always had lots of fun while at the office playing with their toys. Most kids can't stand wearing hats, but don't even know they are wearing the band....strange but true! Good luck tomorrow, happy to hear your husband will be able to make the trip, that'll help . Please let us know how it goes & how you ALL adjust! Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad mI > and I'm very nervous about it.
